Gastronomic memories of India
Gastronomic memories of India
What are your gourmand memoirs while travelling in India?
Mines are these:
-Chennai: the best veg thalis and fried pomfret in Marina Beach
-Kanchi: the best date juice (difficult to find, by the way)
-Mamallapuram: the best fish thali
-Pondicherry: Hot Breads, really fresh and tasty bakery.
-Kerala, Trivandrum: best coffee and chais
-Bombay : best grape juice in Colaba
-Goa: the worst pina colada, if somebody can tell me a good place...
-Delhi: the best chicken tandoori in Rest. U-like, Chuna Mandi, Pahar Ganj
-Amritsar: the best lassi, I like them done by electric machine, not by hand. Here in Benares are famous too, but I don' t know why they don' t feel tasty to me the traditional way. Also I enjoy a lot Delhi lassis for the same reason.
-Manali: the best cherries, he he. Not available in Benares, so I got stuffed.
-Benares, where I live: the best mangos, for which the city is famous, now is the season in June.
-Jodhpur: the best pineapple juice.
-Srinagar: the best faluda, and local cakes.
-Thamel, Kathmandu: the best German bakery, for me.
