eating out in Chennai

Found this interesting guide to eating out in Chennai written by a guy who seems to know his food;

http://www.imsc.res.in/Madras/eogc.html

I think I'll try the raintree in the weekend.

By the way, I already posted this, but no reply, so I'll sneak it in again: does anybody know where I can buy an electronic hair trimmer in Chennai? I don't have alot of time to shop and look around, and quite urgently need one...

Forget rain tree. Go to Hotel Virudhanagar. This is at 77, G.N. Chetty Road, Panagal Park, T. Nagar. Have a starter of fried spicy quails, then move on to Massala Crab, Turkey Biriyani. On week ends you have rabbit & doves. You will pay 8 times less than your rain tree. Call Mr. Guna. Phone: 9884004461
There is a booze & beer shop next to this eatery and a park so I think what u should do!

Great list phreakol1. Thanks for sharing it!
Was a trip down memory lane. He seems to have missed 2 of my favourites. Cakes and Bakes in Nungambakam, they have the best katti rolls and potato salad. And Hotel Maris, next to chola sheraton for superb sout Indian meals. Try them if you get a chance.
