Mumbai recommendations

For typical Maharashtrian Misal and Batata Vadaa try "Visawa" opp. Plaza Cinema, Dadar. These are "snacks", not meals.

For Malvani food try "Sindhudurg", which too is near Plaza Cinema.

For tasty South Indian snacks and filter coffee visit any of the restaurants in the vicinity of Matunga suburban station on the Central Railway side.

For a tasty buffet lunch at reasonable rates, visit "Viva Paschim" at Worli Naka.

Last but by no means the least "Balwas" restaurant at New Marine Lines for Moghlai stuff.

Thumbs up Anjuna food

Theres a restaurant next to the Villa Anjuna that shows movies every night, the food there is fantastic, try the bar B Qd prawns and the King Fish they were without doubt the best meals we had in the whole of India.

Hi Margo,
"Samrat" is an awesome place for Gujarati Thalis in Bombay. It is within walking distance from Eros theater (near the churchgate train station). I eat there at least once on every trip to India. Hope this helps.

"Tendulkar's", the pricey restaurant near the Gateway of India, owned by the famous cricketer is supposed to be good, though I've never been there. One is required to reserve a table before hand.

"Delhi Durbar" in the vicinity of the Gateway is recommended for Mughlai food, especially for Mutton Biryani.

Thumbs up Trishna's seafood in Mumbai

Trishna's has some of the best seafood we've eaten, anywhere! 300 rupees for pepper pomfret fish. Address is 7 Rope Walk Lane. We stayed in Sri Baba Marg in Fort Area (5-10 mins from Gateway) and walked 2 mins to Trishna's. Fabulous food and good wine list too! Phone 2 2672176.

Theres just so many places in Nth Goa, you could be there a year and dine somewhere different evey night
If you're in the Candolim area check out 'The Stone House' it's on the main road about half way towards Fort Aguada, An excellent menu, garden setting, live unobtrusive music most nights......
