Intensive cooking classes

Hello.

I'm looking for some intensive, cooking classes. I'd like to spend at least a couple of days, but quite possibly longer, learning to cook vegetarian Indian dishes, either alongside a good home cook, or in a very hands-on classroom setting with no more than a few students.

I'm somewhat flexible when it comes to location, although I'd particularly love to hear any recommendations for Gujarat or for the southern portion of the country, where I'll be already.

Thanks!

Cooking course

Hi,

This is something that I wanted to do when I was back packing a few years ago and I did a Tibetan course in Dharamasala with a monk. We learnt how to make Thukpa and momo's which was fun.

If you are in or near Manali there is a cooking school called Manali Cooking School where you can learn Indian and Tibetan cooking. Their website is: www.manalicookingschool.com

Good luck and happy cooking!

Almika - I actually came on this thread to see if there way anything about the Manali cooking school and I see it's the last post!

We had seen their website and are thinking of doing their course later in the year. Was just wondering if anyone had done a course with them and may be able to feedback as to how it was?

I like the fact the it's a full day including shopping for the ingredients and also that the groups appear to be kept quite small but was just looking to see if anyone had been there or perhaps had any other recommendations in Manali/Shimla/Rishikesh?

Hi,
Does anybody know some cooking classes in Mumbai or sb that could teach me the rudimentals?
My first time in India, will be staying some time here so I'll have to cook sth more than scrambled eggs. I never was into Indian food really and I get lost looking at all these foreign-looking vegetables... And obviously now I'm really interested in Indian cuisine, cause it tastes great!

I'm looking for something in Andheri East, but it's not a must. The only thing that is important for me is that it should be in English... or any language that I understand, my guess is they don't give classes in polish
I already came upon some bakery classes, but I'm more interested in basic indian "food philosophy" (and i don't have an oven here). Any tips will be really welcome!

I have seen many cooking courses advertised in Chennai. Mumbai should be having them. Local magazines and/or newspaper advertisements. Else ask in restaurants you visit.

I figured one in Andheri East, JB Nagar, its a vegetarian affair though, from what I heard its good.

mentioning it here might amount to advertising for that course.

I cannot pm you the details as well, only those with 10 or more posts have that facility.

So if you send me a mail ( mite78@yahoo.com ) i will send you the details.

Here is a link to cooking courses in Chennai. The CFG or Chennai Food Guide is another impressive resource.
