I just want to know why baked beans are served at breakfast!

that's right up there with hot milk in your cereal...

which leads to another "we are like this only" story....

at my hotel in madurai they served hot milk for the cereal. I asked for cold milk. they told me they did not have cold milk. I said, "well, doesn't your hot milk start out cold?"

I don't think I ever saw so many blank stares...

I like baked beans at breakfast.

It's probably a British thing. Bacon, eggs, toast, marmalade, baked beans

Marmite

I guess it's no different from when I eat a mexican breakfast with black beans or pinto beans. beans are beans!

I am a has bean

Sorry, haresh, no more.

PS: Am reasonably confident you will get Heinz in large/State capital cities, and Chandigarh, maybe even Jullundur and Amritsar, but not sure. Maybe you should specify which areas of Punjab/North India

And 'other brands', specially Indian ones, easily available.

sautéed mushrooms, and hash browns......and coffee - don't forget the coffee. I remember reading a story once about an ozzies held up in customs in Bangkok I think because he brought in a jar of marmite - they didn't know what it was let alone that anyone would eat it!

It's certainly not a Canadian thing and have never laid eyes on them in India as of yet ......but a Mexican breakfast of huevos rancheros with refried beans & a cuppa café de olla ..... is soooo good!

..... and a damn fine cure for a good 'ol fashion tequila bender I might add.

Heinz make baked beans are widely available in Delhi. These are available with sausages too. I have tried Heinz and Indian brands hardly any difference.
I love baked beans on toasts.

Baked beans certainly available here in Chennai.

Imported Heinz beans are ridiculously expensive. Local makes may not give the same gourmet satisfaction, but are much cheaper.

SIL brand baked beans are available in Mumbai, so ought to be available in Delhi as well. Mix with chopped onions, green chillies and coriander, heat and have on buttered toast or cheese toast. Yummy.

Last week I bought a three-pack of Heinz baked beans (imported from England) for 89 Rs in Magnet at Bandra (W). I stocked up as I don't think that they are regularly on sale there. Today, in London, a single can cost 49 pence at my local Tesco.

Is it entirely safe to assume that all labelled Heinz Baked Beans in India are really infact Heinz Baked Beans?
