I had a lot of lassi in India, and never got a bhang lassi without asking for it...

The first time I had one was in Jaisalmer. I asked the guys in the guest house where I was staying if they had it... they didn't, but went somewhere to get'em (maybe their own kitchen ;-)

I also got some cookies from the "Goverment Official Bhang Shop ;-)))" at Jaisalmer, where they also sell lassies, chocolate, etc...

I never got sick from having lassi, but then again I was never that sick in India during my 1 1/2 month stay.

if they cant read, as many people are illiterate there, then act out the scene of someone being really stoned, eyelids drooping and staggering around sleepily, then gesture with both arms in a cross motion, from inside to outside, saying in a loud voice 'no!'. repeat the phrase 'bhang lhassi bad' three times, then say in broken english (they understand this better) 'me no want bhang lhassi, bhang lassi no good - ok?'

alternatively you can just ask for a plain lhassi, a banana lhassi or a mango lhassi. if they ask you if you want a 'special' lhassi you can politely decline.
