| A Perfect Day's Grazing in the Sub-Continent When my wife and I are missing a country we've visited we play this game: If time and space wasn't an issue... what would your perfect day's dinning in India be? For example mine would be: Breakfast - streetside vendor near the Indian Museum in Calcutta - omlette on toast (EXTRA green chillis) & fresh chai in glass wiped clean on a shirt tail! Mid-morning snack - an extra thick Makhania Lassi in the shop at the gateway to the main bazaar Jodhpur Lunch - all you can eat thali in the canteen in the basement of the National Museum in Delhi. Washed down with a liberal dose of Thumbs-Up Cola. Afternoon tea - Cavendar's for tea & biscuits in Darjeeling of course! Busride snack - "Poppins" - sugary fruit candies that come in a roll, found in the pockets of kids all over the sub-contintent. (A close second would be chilled Twix from the fridge on the Anoop Hotel's rooftop restaurant). Dinner - Khubani Murg (Chicken w/ apricots) from Summer Harvest in Leh, Ladakh. Complimented with a glass of 50/50 tetsululu (seabuckthorn) juice and Canada Dry dessert - Kwality Brand ice cream anywhere! (yes, that is kwality with a "K") Well, let's hear em folks... |
