I've been eating at Al-Hamra since they opened; they are nice people and the food is good. Also, it's only a block from 16th Street BART station, and three San Francisco buses (#14, #49, #26 and #22 pass by a block away.

Namaste,
Due to a family crisis I am unable to make the meetud in SOF area. Am truely sorry that I can't be there to make new friends and get the lowdown on various india related things, wonderwoman it will have to be another time til we meet, but superhero things come first.

Please could some one give a report back and I heard that photos may be avilable of thee meet up.Guess we will meet in India?

So sorry you couldn't make it; there were only a few of us (7) and we had a wonderful lunch and good conversations! Dzibead has the photos, which I hope she will upload soon!

Here it is, almost summer again, and time for the folks around San Francisco Bay to get together once again.

How about June 3? Can everyone make it on Sunday, a month from now?

Sita Paratiyaga (did I spell that right?) suggests we meet at Saravana Bhavan down on the Peninsula -- and I'm for that if I can get a ride with someone.

So, all you Northern Californians, let's hear from you!

ooo HSB is a wonderful place! I only get to make it down there when we used to play at Stanford (to note UC Davis Women's Rugby is playing in the Collegiate Final Four at Stanford this Friday), but i would love to make a trek out there for a meet up. If anyone is coming from the Sacramento area let me know!

Also, has anyone been to Dosa in the mission or tried Breads of India? the chole at dosa was exquisite...

It would be great if you can get down here for the meetup! Someone from Sacramento was here for the meetup in Berkeley...

Haven't tried Dosa yet, though it's really close to my home. Not many friend want Indian food, and few of them have ever heard that South Indian meals are different from what we eat in the North. <shrug> I'll get there one of these days...

Dosa is nice. I took a few friends who have never had south indian food before, they enjoyed it. I'm personally not a fan of dosas, but their uttapams were good, the chole batura top notch (i got a side order of the garbanzos), the dahi vada really delicious, and they also have tasty acchar/pachadi you can order on the side. It's a bit posh but it's SF, go figure. They also have mimosas at brunch yummy. But saravanabhavan...now THAT is some great eating!!
