Pune Meetups
Thanks Haze
well Haze, thanks for the welcome
, i guess I never really went away. I am an Indian guy who is now based at Pune after having pottered my way through quite a few places in India. My work ,however, keeps me travelling all the while. Right now, I am at the fag end of a pretty lonely stint at Chicago. So looking forward to being back at Pune !

We'll give a full report of what you missed.
Enjoy yourself in Mumbai and beyond.

Hi Rush
We hadn't really fixed a time and date, but my dates are limited - we'll only be there from Saturday of next week until the 2nd of November. Making a sneaky trip to India while the girls are on mid-term break.
The 28th is the first day of Diwali, so I guess that's out for most, if not all, of us. How is October 31st for people? It's Hallowe'en, which I don't believe is marked in India (why would it be - it's an old Celtic festival!)I guess we need to get a concensus regarding a date from all those on here who are interested and then pick a time and place.
Have you any thoughts where you'd like to meet? What day suits you best?
Cheers!

Mr K-C!!
As if I'd forget that you had promised me a loan of your mother!! I'm counting on it.
Will email you both privately in the next day or two. Off to bed now - for some reason I'm exhausted!!
See you soon!

How about Saturday, November 1st in Peshwe Park near Saras Baug? What time would be good? Afternoonish? (You can find out more about the place by following the link posted previously by SKK: http://meghnad.iucaa.ernet.in/~icgc07/sub/pune.htm)
Obviously, someone who has been there previously would need to suggest where exactly we should meet....
Cheers!

The Place is not A/C; its an open garden tho, so it should be cool enough for all the little people who would come there.
I would recommend meeting no later than 5:30Pm. Or else traffic getting to the park will be a nightmare. Any earlier would be hot, the October heat waves have not hit Pune yet, so it could be hot on Nov 1st.
In SARAS BAUG (park) There is a huge Ganesh temple in the middle of a large lake/moat. I would recommend that meeting in the temple, its a nice cool shaded place.
:-)

second that, its a nightmare getting transportation in the evenings. Also 1st November seems to be a Saturday so the temple and surroundings would be very busy. There is an option to meet at Sambhaji Park http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...,0.008626&z=17
There are CCD's and Barista's everywhere in Pune. We could meet up at the Barista on F.C. Road or the CCD on Jangli Maharaj Road if an A/C is necessary. If we are meeting, it is becoming chilly as it is. Yesterday was 11 degrees celcius at night.
