Lets see how it goes and if need be a new thread can be considered.
Best of luck planning this out and sincerely hope it can be brought together , logistics will be a bit painful as will the risk of last minute cancellations etc. |

Ok sorry to be a real damper on this.
Perhaps you should check first as to how many people would be willing to do this. I for one don't think I would be game to go for a weekend trip just yet. A day picnic may be a slightly better way to start the extended collective time spend? Cheers |

Hmm... I would agree on the outing for a day place, though with winter break coming I will be gone for several weeks. But 10 hours of the day spent traveling doesn't seem like much fun. A camping trip may be fun, but I less certain about whether I could commit to it.

There arent many nice places for a picnic outside Delhi which can be a comfortable option for a day trip. Brajghat aka Garhmukteshwar on the banks of the Ganges is a religious site and having been there numerous times for the delicious "puri" I can say, its NOT a picnic spot neither there is one nearby.
A potluck picnic at somewhere like Lodhi Gardens is a much better idea in my opinion. And I second Nikhil on the weekend trip discussion. Cheers, Shamik

Of GMVN and it's Managers...
Quote:
He was looking after the GMVN at Khirsu, near Pauri, when I was there in January, this year... He had just been transferred from Lansdowne; so he told me; so you are probably referring to the same man...! I remember having had long conversations with him... And I accompanied him to two small schools at Khirsu for the Republic Day function, where we were treated like royalty...! Cheers...! ![]() |

Yes he is the same person, He is manager of GMVN Khirsu now. On 31st december he was freshly posted there, he took bookings on phone for karnvashram, as goodwill gesture or is incharge of both places. Btw have you been to karnvashram, it is in plains of UK. |

approx two cents
From my perspective Meetups are intimidating enough for the uninitiated, let alone a weekend away! Thats what the travel partners forum is for - or something like that.
I find the thread is getting a bit too convoluted when it should be a nice and easy way to meet other travelers (those already here/locals, and transients) over a drink or food. Cheers |

About the outing...my suggestions: why do 100 kms? Is there any place a little isolated from Delhi i.e. about around a 50km radius, where we can picnic? That would be better, cuz then we'll be spending max 4 hours up and down in travelling, plus get the benefits of a nice hideout away from the city and picnic, and in this beautiful weather. Opinions?

However, if there is a meetup brewing somewhere in near/not so distant future, that definitely interests me. |
