Hi Shashank, you remember this...?

I am surprised that I have not written about this place till date. Have been there several time in past one year, primarily for the meetups of an online community I am a member of.
Never really liked the place, even though I have been to worse watering holes, but this place is bang in middle of CP. They could have done a bit better. They do no accept credit cards or debit cards. Now this is the major problem, when out with a group you never know how much amount you would end up spending, so this place is generally avoided due to this.
Food, nothing to write home about, average to below average bar snacks. Soggy French fires, rubbery paneer tikka. Can't say much about non-veg, but none of my friends have been able to recommend anything at this place.
Booze is cheaper as per CP standards, however not much cheap.
Did hear lot of things about the place, it used to be popular some decades ago I guess, however not anymore. A seedy place at best.

I did some research about Volga (because I never heard of it, now i know why) and found this review of Volga on internet written by Shashank. (Dated: June 13th, 2008)

If Shashank wrote this about the decided venue of the next meet-up on the 28th.....I would say: Let's find some other location?

Any suggestions any one?

Well, for an initial drinks and snacks it's fine - easy to get to etc. The group generally moves onto another better place for the food..
I liked Swagat when I went there for lunch one day - and the group has met there before. But maybe it is considered too expensive?? For myself, I would prefer a Meet Up where there is no moving on.. and food can be got at the same time. I'm an early night person and this would suit me better. But, I don't attend Meet Ups very often so it really doesn't matter!
Every cloud has a silver lining!
