No prob's Mridula, see you next time you are in Leeds, get well soon!Anyone seen Shashank since last night???? Unfortunately he ran over a womans foot (alledgedly) outside Karim's & was marched off to the police office with his papers. We waited over 40min's when he texted us saying don't wait,he was waiting to see a senior officer
Hope you are safe & well today Mera Bhai?

Sorry i missed seeing you KK , hopefully another opportunity will present itself soon!!
Whew!
Just spoke to Shawshank (as dukkah would call him
) and he's temporarily out of trouble (although they made him wait at the police station till midnight
...and the woman never should up!).
But it seems that its not a big deal and he should get off scot-free(for good) soon enough! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Have been speaking to Shanks , and he asked to me put in a note on his behalf (He's a bit tied up at the moment)
Everything is fine , he's a little cranky due to the fact that he got home only at 12:45 AM
, no trouble and the chapter is now closed!
Everything is fine , he's a little cranky due to the fact that he got home only at 12:45 AM
, no trouble and the chapter is now closed! well, lets start from the starting.
When I was trying to park my car near Karim's, I was being helped by a local attendant, my steering was turned in such a way that when I back my car it would go to extreme left and I was facing back, looking from the rear window, as it was dark and I had to ensure that I do not hit the wall behind.
The car was moving at snails pace, when suddenly this lady walks in from the right and since the tires were completely turned towards the other side, they might have ran over this ladies foot. She tried to make a scene there but other onlookers didn't support her as all saw what happened, and it was simply not my fault. So we parked the car and one of the members apologized to the lady and we left the place.
Now when we came back, a cop was sitting by the car, and as soon as I tried to open it, he asked me accompany him to 'chowki' with papers of the car and my license. Now I did not have originals of any paper of the car with me, but I keep duly attested copies, which are perfectly acceptable. Anyhow, I asked others to leave as today was monday and they would have been getting late, and there was nothing anyone of them could have done.
So I entered the chowki at around 10:45 pm and started waiting for senior cop to turn up, sitting there I was not sure how this would turn. What I was expecting is that once the senior cop turns up, then they will call the lady and will help us reach a compromise, which eventually would be me paying some money to the lady. I thought of calling my family as well, but then I abstained, would have called them if things went really bad.
But I kept waiting there in the chowki under a rickety fan, for around an hour, and then this cop turns up. He asked me sequence of events, scanned my papers, license etc. Then he started writing something on a plain piece of paper. After that he handed that over to me to sign, and it simply had the sequence of events as I told him, and it mentioned that I will come to the station whenever he calls me. So I was relieved, it seemed like I was going home.
He retained my license (not impounded), he said that its been couple of hours and the woman had not shown up again, but he is keeping my license to make sure that even is she shows up, he has some proof to show that they did stop me, but it was she who did not turn up. He said that he will wait for the women till today evening, and if she turns up, he will try to get it settled for as less a figure as he can, or else he will return my license on his way home.
So that's about it, one of the best cops I have ever encountered, was extremely polite, logical and cooperative, maybe that is the reason I is responsible for a such a sensitive area.

Excessive modesty.
Using only a toothpick and some leftover gulab jamun Shashank broke out of the High Security cell and the police then launched a high speed pursuit though Old Delhi (aka walking pace). He eventually eluded his pursuers by running over THEIR feet in an auto.
OK, maybe not. But that's how it SHOULD have happened.

Btw, thanks to all IMers who have been calling me, messaging me through SMS, PM and on the board to check my well being.
It really feels good to know that so many friends care for you and are there to support and help you. As of now things are looking settled, however I would give it time till tomorrow and then call the cop to check if the lady showed up again or not. Anyhow, things seem to be all settled, and this is not what I exactly call trouble.

the neverending delhi meetup .....
unfortunately - the cops still had one good foot each so they formed a can can line and kicked their heels into the air in pursuit of Shashank (aka - vegetarian man, super restaurant seeker extrodinaire)!
sorry - couldn't resist it.....it had that look about it (dukkha started it)?

Shashank! I'm glad you're okay and that you were lucky to get a nice cop in Delhi ; ) .. What a story for the kids/nieces/nephews though, eh?
The meet up was loads of fun,and it was great to meet members face-to-face. See y'all at the next one ; )

Rest assured Shashank bhai that "lady" won't show up. If she had been really injured while you had been parking your car she would have confronted you then & there.
I will bring this incident to the notice of the owners of Karim's
