Sorry, I need to get back few years. Anybody who is not registered on IM and is not a spouse or singificant someone of a member, is not allowed to be part of a meetup. am I right? If this is not so, I've many friends from Sikandarpur and Wazirabad Village who would like to be part of the meetup. This is pun but we need to take this seriously before it gets out of hand and our IM friends starts feeling intimated for any meetup in delhi. |

HI Shashank,
I was looking to discuss this point of bringing 'friends' who are not part of the IM community to the meetups. I understand that it is an open forum, but we need to have checks in place to avoid it becoming more of 'friends' than actual IMers meetups in future. I assume all the IMers are responsible people but being in the virtual world one can never be sure and any one bad incident may turn this into a No-No for IMers coming to Delhi. What do others have to say or I'm just taking it too seriously and something like this is not going to happen and lets get abck to enjoying the meetups. Cheers |

Again Vinay Dada, the point is, its an open forum, anyone and everyone can register and make a single post saying that he/she is coming for the meetup..so there is no way you can put a check in place...
So if I want to get a friend, and if there are regulations in place, I will simply create an ID for the person and make a post here... |

I think the inclusion of people who are not really familiar with the forum, its members , its general vibe to some degree might just dilute the meetup , there is no point doing a registration simply for the sake of the meetup , it doesn't help, they dont know the forum...
While i have no objection or mean to cause offense i think the check needs to be in place. I agree there can be exceptional circumstances i.e a house guest who cannot be left alone etc , but to have a unrestricted open door policy simply means a party.... whats stopping me from getting 10 friends the next time? It would take me 2 minutes to register all of them and be in the right side of the technicality , but really whats the point if they will never really contribute to the forum..? A meetup , in my opinion, is a forum specific event and activity , to encourage members to get to know each other beyond the boards resulting from exchanges and rapport on the site, while an odd person or two could just get swept into the conversation and blend in , a number slightly higher will not.. I would appreciate any inputs, advise , an excellent conversation with anyone , but let them bring it on to the board first and then maybe the meetup ? As far as family members go , i think its absolutely fine to get a spouse, it would be expected , and in some cases we might even appreciate the better half more than the other half.. Anyway , this is what i think , atleast for now, but i havent had my coffee yet.... ![]()
