But honestly, this is something that everyone has to, just has to be a part of... The Qawallis are just wonderful... The atmosphere... The dresses... The smells of kebabs all along the Gali before you enter the Dargah area... The guys with those Huge fans fanning the audience and then rightfully getting some rupees in return... Everything... Just everything... I wish I could... And I know I would, if I could... Cheers...! |

for those who care about other work and commitments, here is what I quoted in a thread that would be mentioned below..
Every Thursday evening music lovers collect at the Nizamuddin dargah and wait for Nizami Khusro Bandhu, a family that has been singing here for 750 years, to settle down with their harmoniums and tablas. As Ustad Meraj, as senior qawwal, leads the group into impassioned song, the mood is electric. Livelier than the ticketed concerts, you sit right alongside the qawwals and watch their hands slicing the air, eyes popping out, nostrils flaring, and faces dissolving into momentary madness. Good luck with your Meet Up, Shashank, wish I could be there - but next time I'm around, would love to go to one of these nights. It sounds wonderful... I think more into the cooler weather months, later this year. (Can't imagine they have air conditioning there?)
