Hi, welcome to IM.There arent many takers, chances are that I'll be the only one there that day. Since I work in the weekdays, Bunty aur Bubli is an option that might open but I cant say for sure at this point.
Do you live in Amsterdam?
I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.

A'dam meet Jan. 29th 2008!
Yo you Amsterdammers and surroundings'ers, little get-together announcement:
When:
Tuesday, Jan. 29th, 2008
Where:
Brouwerij 't IJ, http://www.brouwerijhetij.nl/
Funenkade 7, Amsterdam (Eastern part of town. It's in a windmill, you can't miss it. Yes, they sell soft drinks too [I think?]
)
Purpose:
To inspire Larkilli with enough confidence (or get her drunk enough, whichever comes first
) to make it to India & back solo
--> See http://www.indiamike.com/india/chai-...-alone-t49519/
Attendants so far:
Larkilli
Indojingai
Yours truly
All welcome!
How to:
The place is open from 15:00 - 20:00
I intend to be there from 17:00. Please note I'm not very punctual, so you may be the first.
Either way: The staff is very friendly. I'll notify them when I get there we have an IM meet-up, so just enquire with them. If they don't know what you're on about, you are the first one. So notify them yourself, and ask them to direct any newcomers to you. Other than that, look for the IM shirts, shouldn't be very difficult all of it.
If it's very crowded, we may have to stand. Such is life (... and, as they say, it's getting sucher all the time).
I reckon it's safest to show up before 19:00/19:30'ish as we may be moving on afterwards.
Optional après-meet arrangements:
There's a nice and simple and afffordable Punjabi eatery close by. There are Surinamese and other eateries in the wider vicinity.
The famous Bimhuis jazz club has been moved to the river and does free jam sessions on Tuesdays 20:00 and onwards. Quality varies and it's a godawful ugly building if you ask me, however the view over the river and cityscape is great, and it offers ample room for undisturbed conversation. It's also not far away from the pub, and the walk there leads past some nice historical sailing ships.
Bring your own input...
Be there or be an ellipsoid

We'll miss you, Hans. Next time!
Heheh. We'll be sure to have you watching over our every shoulder
ps Called the place just to be sure. Yes, they sell soft drinks and juices and stuff, of course, no worries. Bar closes at 19:45.

19:45???
Uncivilised, that's what it is.

LOL. Yes, tell me about it.
It's a local micro-brewery, one of our finest, they've made quite a name for themseleves over the years, and you'll find their beers in many bars across town now (and perhaps across the country?) I guess the bar just serves as an attention factor. They do free group tours of the facilities on Fridays, we should look into that a next time. For 20 persons+ you can get a paid tour with beer tasting included, seeing how former meet-ups went, that may be a while yet.
It can get very crowded and noisy btw, so be prepared. As noted above, we can move on to something quieter if desired, and we'll leave word with the staff for any late-comers. It's a fun place though.

In that case, I'll be there, in spirit, telling everyone, "Sorry, I can't hear; I'm a bit deaf; need to get the hearing aid adjusted".
Or maybe I've got an appointment with the ear man that evening.
I wonder if he's still got the same stunning nurse/receptionist as two years ago
