Netherlands Meetups
Aha..........., I will keep a eye on this thread.
It's on a minor e-mailadres of mine, so I easily miss these e-mails on short terms. 30-8 untill 2-9 I'm not available however. Since I'll visit the NaturalNetworkingFestival.com
Keep it up.

Would be good to see you, Joph. I guess if there aren't many other takers, Sept. 3rd or 4th might do just as well.
This is all in Dutch (and in Surinamese and Indonesian
), but that Indonesian eatery I was talking about is here, they also offer a lot of Surinamese food: http://www.sranangmakmur.nl/. I'm not as wild about their menu as I thought I'd be; though have eaten well there. An old institution would be http://ramsroti.nl/, they moved to the West at some point so no idea what it's like to sit there now.
There is one place in indeed De Pijp area, that used to be cosy, and offering a little more than the usual fare. Not been there for ages, so would need to go check it out, and whether they're around at all still. I don't know the name.
NYCank, any news on your plans?

Tentatively It is Sept 1-4. Too many logistics have to be sorted out... accommodations, train/bus to Floriade, and other minor hassles. It all gets sorted out few days before my flight (what else is new
) 2Cents, great. There's a note in the mail
NYCank, yes, I see. So that changes things a little. I would propose when you know your date, we just meet somewhere downtown, then pick some place to go and eat on the spot.
So to others, that would then tentatively be in Amsterdam, somewhere between Sept. 1-4, details to be decided, keep an eye here. I guess if on a weekday (Joph could only make it after the 2nd), it would be good to meet somewhere between 18:00-19:30, then go for food.

So 2Cents (we'd met in India before, and he looked after me really well) & a bunch of wonderful friends of his and I met up tonight for what is known as De Parade here. Had a wonderful evening; thanks, guys (ladies, kids, gents, whatever)
Keep an eye here for A'dam Sept. 1-4, then.

Hm, OK, just keep us posted, and I'll be keeping an eye. I would appreciate if and once you have something definitive you let us know; that would be the only time to start calling on some members who may not be diligently reading along here.
Joph said he wouldn't be available because of some festival over that weekend; I assume that would then include Sunday 2nd. So how would Monday 3rd work for you? (Or, of course the 4th, but I reckon you'd need to get going again then.)

I was in private touch with Joph, it sounds like he really wants to make it, but he can only do so after the weekend.
So I would propose somewhere in downtown Amsterdam, Monday Sept. 3rd or Tuesday 4th, let's say meet in some pub between 18:00-19:30, then go for food.
How would that work for you, NYCank? If we can finalize this, I could start calling on a few more people. If you know a place you would like us to meet up (perhaps one of the above?), bring it on. Or would only Saturday work for you?

Cool. Late Monday night I guess isn't so swell. So, let us say:Amsterdam IndiaMike Meetup,
Tuesday Sept. 4th,
meet 18:00-19:30 at some downtown venue to be decided,
food after (Surinamese? We can just decide on the spot. This could involve a short walk or tram ride into one of the old working-class districts surrounding the center, nothing very far away.)
Attendants so far:
NYCank
Mach
Joph most likely.
I will gladly let you come up with y'r favorite pub to meet in (would be handy if it a) has room b) is not too noisy), or I can propose something. I've no idea if there will be many more takers; but bring any pals along, sure.
Does that timing work for you, NYCank? Would you prefer say an hour later or so? Just let us know. I'm just thinking what is handy for people & their jobs.

LOL. I take it you've arrived, NYCank?
Yes, downtown is a mess owing to this new metro line being built, it keeps being postponed and costing ever more. (It should long have been finished by now, but so far there's no end in sight still.)
I still need to drop folks a line, all it takes is for me to wrap my ahead around it and do so. I will, soon.
You have any suggestions yet where to meet? The following two would be tricky as I've never been there yet: Krasnapolsky is an old institution here, I'd expect it to be sort of lumpen-posh, I think you know it. It was once famous for its glass-covered inner courtyard where you can sit; I was a while ago told this is in fact still there. We could check it out.
Close to here should be a place where you can do jenever-tasting. I'm sure they'd have beers and soft drinks and coffee as well. This would get even trickier, it should be in an alley there and I don't even know the name. I could find out before Tuesday.
More realistically, I was thinking of Cafe Soundgarden. It's a long-standing punky/grungy cafe here. If that sounds too hardcore to people it really isn't, it's an amicable place, and if the weather holds up, they have a great and large terrace by the water. I also know of two Surinamese eateries that wouldn't be far from here.
Or, perhaps we could meet up at Die Port Van Cleve again, like last time. I wasn't wild about it, but it was comfortable enough, not the cheapest around but still passable, and of course very central.
Let us know. If you wanna meet up for a drinkie inbetween before the two of us, I think that can also be arranged, though don't have very clear plans yet for these coming days.
So to others still, keep an eye out for this coming
