WWU: We might just end up at Riaz's If so, I'll light a candle or something (or give a Fernandez toast anyway -- you remember those icky neon-colored Surinamese soft drinks right? Yummy! )
If there were Surinamese restaurants and cafes when I lived there in the 70s, I certainly didn't know of them, and I lived with a houseful of Surinamers at one time... but in fact, I did eat at Riaz in 2001 when I was there and liked it very much, though I do not recall the sdoft drinks. Yes, if you do end up there, think of me!

Just bumping this one more time before Ze Grande Day tomorrow... IndoJingai, if it's just you and me, let's just get seriously pissed buddy. Sod them boats (But Larki, Ray, Joph, Zoeper, Hans, Sanna, and everyone: yes, just try and make it.)

Anyway: Hope to see as many of you there as possible. Cheers peeps

(ps Have been having a persistent cold and yesterday veering over to light fever. Seems to be OK at the moment though, I think I'll be alright. Or it might be Indo all by his lonesome... No, that can't be )

Now thats a meetup plan I like

Lets also have a few summer games to make it India specific, how about chase-the-cow or a head-wobble competition

PS: If potential attendees would like a number to call, just in case, PM me before 1300 tomorrow.

Too bad you couldn't make it Hans, sorry about that. Next time! Would be great to meet you all, finally.

& Thanks for the pic, Joph. Clockwise, that would be IndoJingai, Joph, Tarotray, and yours truly, sitting on the canal boat. Zoeperman came to join us later in the day.

A fun time was had again I believe, as they say. After our canal boat trip (didn't get to see all that much owing to all our chatter -- well, it's nice enough to be boating around town in good company ), we sat down at De Balie cafe's terrace as planned -- and never left to the park, what with more chatter & drinks & fresh salads instead. So I hope no one tried to catch us in the park, then again no one had announced they would.

I noticed how funnily topics of conversation veered to & fro to cover roughly the whole gamut of what is usually discussed at IndiaMike itself Life in Goa in the seventies, travel of course, photography and other arts and occupations (IT, of course!), the occasional theory on the state of world politics, etc., you name it.

Zoeperman came to join us here later, while Joph packed it up to attend business elsewhere at some point. Saying goodbye to Tarotray, the three of us left then went out to the NDSM wharf as planned, an artist's colony a short boat ride away across the river and truly a peaceful waterfront reprieve from city life, with plenty an industrial structure to roam around. Apart from the ongoing jazz (& funk & hip-hop &...) festival here, we got to see the Dutch soccer team being beaten by the Russians... Funny enough, our national heroine saxophone player, Candy Dulfer (or her manager rather, presumably), couldn't wait to start playing, so the end of the prolonged game & final defeat was to the sound of her swinging upbeat tunes... (I mean really, wtf was that all about?! And I don't even care for soccer!)

We checked out some more of the ships lying around, hosting more music, then off it was to catch last subways & be off to bed like the good people we are.

All in all, another splendid IM day! & Very nice to meet some new faces, and to see some others again.

Future meet-up fantasies: Take the hydrofoil to the nearby town of IJmuiden, where one can take another boat around the harbor and a little out onto the North Sea. Seek out the famous seafood restaurant here, and enjoy the beach and protected dunes in the area.

Or, the first-ever Rotterdam meet-up! More boating around the harbor, seafood, possible side-trip to the historic town of Dordrecht.

Keep an eye here...

After the second goal I wanted to yell Hup Russia Hup.

Nice pics & reports, thanks guys. To me the little music performance inside the little boat with Dutch guys playing spanish instruments and singing Habibi~~ habibi~~ was the highlight. LOL

Beers, rums and other alchohols made the bicycle ride back home... interesting. What a meetup!

That klezmer'esque band really topped it all off yes Too bad we couldn't stick around for more!

Glad to know you made it back in one piece (or sort of?) Don't you have some ferry pics, or are those with Zoeper?

Hey there, I finally got out of bed (and that without alcohol :S )

Sorry Mach, the pictures of the ferry are with Indo indeed.
I definitely should bring my camera the next time!

It was a great meetup, eventhough it started a bit weird for me, but hey, that's normal for me I guess. Somehow, nothing goes as it is supposed. Well, it keep life interesting.

Back to the meeting.
Candy Dulfer did a perfect job ruining a decent career, build in years, in just minutes.
I mean... Playing through the most thrilling part of the soccermatch and even asking what is going on? Is it good?
She should never be alowed to play again (but that is just my opinion)

That place in general was superb. I liked the controversy in a lot there. I mean: An expensive Audi with a licenseplate which states: SIMPLE ?

*me taps Indo on the shoulder and askes: Where you able to lie down without holding onto your bed? Yes? You where not wasted!

The bottomline of it all: I had a superb time and want to thank you guys again!

The other with Zoeperman came out as a movie. If I am not able to convert it into an image, well.. until the next meetup he has to be the mystery meetup guy

Yep, I was able to sleep somewhere near a bed Zoeper ha ha.

Hai Indojingai, nice picture. You got more of Mac on the picture than I did. If you can find, please send me the link to dvd movie-copy protection.

Nice to meet you.
