I might be available on October 14.
Which one of Igatpuri are you talking of? I know of Vihi near Kasara....is this the same you are referring?

As of now, both dates seem good for me! I would love to visit these places! AvidTrekker, All the places suggested by you are very good and worth visiting in this period
.
True, the SGNP waterfall isn't in it's best form as it hasn't rained heavily in the past one week. Also after 'Ganesh Visarjan', even the lake would be in pathetic condition

Folks are warming up to 14th
It seems that 14th October 2012 suits the people who have replied.
About Tungareshwar..... Its a very small waterfall, most of the trek is via a rough jeep road, hence quite easy to walk. Also, Tungareshwar is accessible via public transport upto the temple, via Western Railway, (and via WE Highway for the car-wallahs). It will be verrry hot (Oct heat) if it is not raining. The plateau on top is "unexplored" because everyone "jeeps" through it. The climb is more gentle (jeep road, obviously) than the one we unwittingly did at the last outing at SNGP. The small water pools on top are safe enough for non-swimmers as well.
On the other hand, Igatpuri is a great roaring waterfall, now muted in the absence of rain. Its not Vihigaon falls, Jatin. Its called Dhanushyateerth. Walk is a level walk only, around 90 to 120 mins., no climbing at all, except the last 20 steps to the falls itself. The big water pool can be very rough in the monsoon, but "sedated" for now. Yet, the water is deep enough (20 feet at the centre) to make it high-risk for non swimmers. Here we require "all cars" transport, because the return from Igatpuri is dicey, and i have had to hitch hike in vegetable trucks to Mumbai.
Take your pick. Both are day outings, the drive to Igatpuri is longer (double?) but extremly scenic at this time of the year.
Am going out of town and returning Saturday 29th night. If some urgent question arises, Ronak or Amar can sms me or call me.

The Universe is an ellipsoid?... or a Spheroid?? If the sphere smiles... it becomes an ellipse. This IS Creation.

Please confirm your participation on 14th
OK, folks
For the trek-meet-up, 14th is the coming Sunday, all those willing to confirm or commit their participation, please do so now. Final count to be done at 24:00 hours on Wednesday 10th Oct 2012. If trekker-numbers are more and vehicles are less, Tungareshwar trek is preferable for convenience of public transport. If trekker-numbers and private vehicles match, the Igatpuri situated Dhanushyateerth is suggested.
Please confirm your participation now.
