Hi & Welcome to Indiamike. No meet ups planned right now. But in the pipeline for Mid - June or End June. Keep following this thread for updates. Ronak.
My personal 2 bits here...Im not sure why meetups have to be tied to treks (especially n the summer!)
Dont get me wrong, I love to trek and am a mediocre/poor old mountaineer and a squash player but I do love my drinks and chill out time which I think would be much more fun in the summer heat!
I mean why is it that meetups cannot be spontaneous? (many of my treks with mates happen on the spur of the moment... in the dead of night... totally unplanned)
Similarly, we meet somewhere and then say "alright, lets go crazy and go for X" we could meetup every friday evening!
Is it me or is it that meetups are supposed to be purely un-alcoholic and extremely formal? (or am i Blasphemising by mentioning alcohol?) in which case I shall avoid posting again and respect the line!
... btw Im pushing 38 with a 7 yr old daughter, so Im not exactly a collegiate... just amazed after all the while I have been a member, how sanctimonious the meetups sound!

Yea, this way we are getting nowhere by planning a meet-up like some once in a year kinda ocassion. It should be more spontaneous less planned. Like just declaring a time, day and place and meeting up with whosoever is able to make it. Just a suggestion han.
its second week of June
In the last page it is said that meet up is planned some where in mid june or end of june.....so when it is???or who is going to organize????
Ok....so How about June 23rd???? Sat day....I dont know ...it can be a trek or any thing...experienced people should suggest....I am a new comer here...
By the way...I am new in Mumbai...like to meet some people who are interested in week end trek or trip

so if any fellow IM is interested please let me know.....

If I may, I think with the Mumbai meets especially, a situation has developed where a steady core of members meet at given times whenever they are agreed on it, then it's always open to others to attend. That is of course just fine, and good for them. But it shouldn't stop others from just making their impromptu proposals and see who bites, like it is with all Meet-up threads. So, fire away I'd say, and do bite, and do show up if you said you've been hooked
I don't think the two approaches should stand in the way of each other, there's room for both.(And this sort of thing always works both ways, of course: If people are gonna wait for that core group to say yes, then nothing's gonna happen until they do. But there's really nothing to stop you from setting your own dates.)

Like Mach has said, once long ago, I tried telling people here that is no need to wait for any Organiser or Core group to decide Meet-up dates/venue and keep on waiting for that to happen.
Anybody can propose a date/venue and see if there are other takers for same. 'You' then become the organiser-initiator.
PS: What I mean is ... don't wait for someone else to propose a meet-up ... you (anyone) can suggest a date/venue/time/agenda and see if any one else is interested in that. Then maybe discuss minor adjustments to that with those interested and settle/finalise with those interested.

I agree with what Mach & KS has said. There is no official meet up & unofficial meet up. The thread it self is open to all postings, whenever some one wants to meet up please post on this thread & discuss with those who agree to meet up on that day & time & once the meet up takes place please post on this thread so that every one knows that a meet up has taken place.
Ronak.
Ronak.
How about this Sunday (24th June)evening somewhere in colaba??
As a rule man's a fool, wen its hot he wants it cool; wen its cool he wants it hot, always wanting whats not..

hi from solo...!
Hi Guys...
Will be in Bombay city in the first week of August and would love to meet up any of the Mumbai IMers...
I have attended several New Delhi IM Meetups over the years... Lately though, the New Delhi Meetup thread hasn't really been what it used to be...
But hopefully, it will get revived some day soon...
I was looking up the Bangalore Meetup thread too, as I am currently here in Bangalore till the end of the month... But, the situation is similar on that thread too... I guess all the Meetup threads need a bit of pepping up...!
While that can and will happen over time, would still appreciate if there can be a meetup of sort in Bombay city when I am there...
I do remember interacting with quite a few Mumbaikars on IM over the years and would sure like to meet up...
If nothing else, I sure would be in a position to share my one penny bit of knowledge and maybe a few tips about trekking in the Himalayas and the lesser known places to frequent there...
Cheers...!

Aren't you the guy who had a life-and-death experience solo-trekking in McLeod Gunj? Would love to meet. Let see the response from Others. How about 3rd or 4th Aug (Fri or Sat) evening?
