Khotto is singular and Khotte is plural in Konkani language spoken in Mangalore and Udipi districts. Hence it may have been spelled as Khotto in the hotel menu card

Cafe Mysore spelt it as khotto.

Its sister concern across the street [Aurora Cinema footpath] .... "Idli house" or something lists one mudho as well... its a ravaa idli type mix steamed in a rolled up banana leaf.

Idli house have a very interesting eating rule .... they will serve you ALL the extra chutney or sambar without charge. IF you leave any on your plate, you have to PAY for it. [they don't want to encourage food wastage]. I simply gorge on the chutneys and sambar there. Our next meetup should be at this place .... preferably at breakfast time ... shlllurrrp

Idli House has a 'factory' located at Laxminarayan Lane, Matunga where a varieties of Idlis, Sambhar and Chutneys are 'produced' on a mass scale

. I had visited the place about a year back.

I will not be surprised if some of the Udipi types hotels located in Matunga-Dadar areas are outsourcing Idlis, Sambhar and Chutneys from this place

.

Hi Amarshah .. read your trip report and saw the pictures too ... looks like you had a great time learning skiing at Auli and the manadatory landslide on way to Joshimath!

Thanks Amar for reminding, it's almost one month since we met last. As Avid had suggested for an Idli house meet up, lets keep that as our next meet up place. I hope everyone agrees to this.

But since they close down early we will have to meet up for a breakfast (if everyone's comfortable) as suggested by Avid.

Regarding dates I would suggest a Saturday morning, how about 15 th of march.

Let your confirmations & suggestions flow in.
