Melbourne (Australia) Meetup

Saturday 20 Feb good for me too. The venue I suggested is open Saturdays so that would work okay if people are happy with that place.

What about the time? Afternoon was mentioned. Say 1 or 2pm?

Feb 20th at the restaurant suggested suits me...let's hope a few more people may like to come too: any more interest in sharing India knowledge & putting faces to postings?

How do we recognise eachother?....won't it be obvious from the wild-eyed look in the eye, worn Indian shirt or scarf, & India photography book or travel blog under the arm? No?...oh just speaking for myself!

Seriously tho anyone else got any ideas? We could book a table under "IndiaMike" if it's that sort of cafe.

As for changing the date, what do others think? I could maybe make it earlier in Feb if it was a Sunday, but as I said in an earlier post I can't make other Saturdays in Feb. So far there's not that many people who've expressed an interest in meeting.

Anyone got other ideas?

My partner and I are also heading off this time - well Feb. Thought we were crazy 'casue ppl seem to travel at the end of the year

But, we will fly into Melbourne June-ish so if there's a catch up then Im totally interested!!!

PS.. Our very first time to India...Flying into Delhi. Any massive heads-up, esp where to head if we get a little overwhelmed???

The date of Saturday 20 Feb seemed to work for those who were actively involved in the discussion. If you move the day to a Sunday you'll need to change the venue as it isn't open on sundays.

I don't think it will be a problem finding other IndiaMikers. Its a smallish cafe and not normally very busy on Saturdays. Sticking an India guidebook on the table should make it easier.

I'm happy to meet up with others later in the year after I get back from India as well. It doesn't have to be a once-only event.
I for one am happy to talk about India anytime, anywhere....

So it looks like IndiaMikers eager to meet & swap stories are meeting at Zum Zum's in Lonsdale St Feb 20th for lunch/ snacks (sorry isis & zera, seems too difficult to change the arrangements but you guys can organise another one later).

So far there's me, desertlover, davidmc, redninja & unclelac who've expressed an interest in getting together...a small but good varied bunch of Indiaphiles! Any other people lurking who want to come too?

My apologies - I wasn't suggesting that you change the date of your already-planned meet-up! Just thought I'd chip in, in case anyone was able to meet up earlier.

I'll attempt to organise another meet-up when I get back (after Easter).

And, now, over to the Indian-based meet-ups :-)

Hope everyone comes with maps, photos, journals & great stories of places I have yet to visit, as am starting to plan a quick trip for later in the year.
