Just a reminder of the location for anyone new to this thread (who are most welcome to join us).Date - 20th August.
Meeting point 1 - 16:00 at a local pub (venue still to be decided)
Meeting point 2 - 17:00 at Chennai Dosa, 353 High street north, east ham, closest tube station is east ham on the district line. (also see above).
I will be there, though still not sure if I will meet at the pub or at the restaurant.
Saying goodbye to this particular long-term friend (booze) is not as easy as I first thought.
A friend tells me there is a 'Witherspoons' pub near east ham tube station, anyone know of it? these places are normally good for meeting people.
Rob, Will the train you catch stop at Romford, Stratford or preferably Ilford? if so, a local train to Manor Park would be your best option (1 stop from Ilford or 3 from Stratford)
.
SOS: Missing Person...
Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?
He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

Hi Steve,
I'm not sure if my train will stop at any of those, except maybe Stratford. It's no worries though - I'll find a way!

Rob, just realised you're coming from Colchester. If you can get off at Ilford, or even Gidea Park or Romford then take a stopping train to Manor Park you will save yourself heaps of time going into Liverpool St and back out on the District Line. One of those train sites on that new-fangled-internety-webby thingy that young peopple use should give you a recommended itinery. You could even get a bus from outside the station (cross the road) (or a minicab if feeling rich) to save the walk.
Wetherspoons... that sounds like the one. Sorry I didn't make it that far yet. Oh; just checked their site and nothing is listed for this area...

That's brilliant, I'll do that Nick.
JD Weatherspoons will be a good spot to meet - nice cheap beer.

Best just cancel the whole event
Seriously, I'm not very good at London public transport these days, [wrong information deleted --- thanks, Steve...]

Train from Norwood Jn to Victoria, then the District line from Victoria to East Ham (about 37 minutes from Victoria).or
Train from Norwood Jn to London Bridge, then the Jubilee line to West Ham, then the District line to East Ham (about 28 minutes from London Bridge).
I think there are more trains from Norwood Jn to London Bridge than to Victoria.
And the Pub is called...
The Overdraft Tavern!
Well, I did say it used to be a bank
You'll recognise the Barclays architecture of the corner door.
It is very close to East Ham Station. Come out of station, turn right and pub is just a few doors away on the next corner.
From Manor Park it will about 25 minute walk, or 5 mins on the bus (get off bus at stop for station which is just before the pub.
I'm no conoiseur of pubs, but it looks OK.
reminder: there are two branches of Chennai Dosa and another place with almost identical name. The one we want is the non-veg one at 353 High St North, and is the last one you come to heading North from the pub.
I think Suseela will come for a couple of hours, so we'll probably not come to the pub.
How to recognise? Anyone got an Indian flag?

Ok well lets meet at the pub at 4pm. Is that a good time for everybody??? I guess I will get there first (kinda feel responsible as I organised it!). I will wear a white shirt and a pair of jeans!!!
Feel free to PM me and I will pass on my mobile phone number

Excellent, I'll be there at 4. The pub name is perfect considering the size of my student debt!
Who else is joining us?
