London meet-up

Hi,

Did this take place? I'm going to India for the first time in October so would be great to meet people that have already been.

Thanks!

Hey, I would def be up for it considering I live in London but I'm going to India on 24th June and returning 4th July so anytime around these dates would be good. I recommend Spice Rack in Stanmore if thats not too far for everyone. Has nice Indian food with an african twist but Tayabs is good as well.

Stanmore is too far for everybody, isn't it?

Might be nice if a handful of members live in that area, but for those travelling from other parts of London, something more central is usually more appropriate.

I'm sorry, by the way, that my now-coming-to-an-end trip has been so full of travel, friends, family and shopping, that I have not had the opportunity to meet with any IMers. Next time, I hope...

So guys,

Lets return to this thread. The Sun is shinning outside and I think it's about time we actually manage to meet up. I suggest July 17th, 18th, or 19th. This will give us enough time to get this thread going and people interested.

For me, Stanmore is good.. As Steven suggested, Tayyabs is an excellent place with great food. May be even a restaurant in Southall?

Who is in? What dates are good?

Hey Londoner, that weekend in July suits me too for a meetup. Southall sounds good although for me other locations would be ok too.

I'm off to India in August so it'll be good to talk with everybody before I go.

17th is good for me too.. Shall we say Southall?

So how about "Gifto's Lahore Karahi". It's normally a very busy place and food is good. Any other suggestions?

So far it's me, sssall, and topgun_uk...

17th July looks good for me at the moment. Never been to Southall so no suggestions on places to eat there.

Hey MrsC..

Good to have you on board. Southall is a kwons as little bombay. I guess now it should be known as little mumbai.. There are so many restaurants to choose from, and most are good.

Omi's restaurant (full name - Omi's restaurant & van hire ) used to be great (before Southall became the hip place to eat), it then put in air con and doubled it's prices.

The Glassy Junction pub does great food, and sometimes some Punjabi entertainment.

If it's to be Southall, it should be somwhere close to the railway station as Southall is a real pain to get to, a bus from Ealing Broadway (or Ealing Common) takes forever and someone not used to Southall may struggle to find a place in the High Street.

So how about Glassy Junction? I have never been inside, but it looks good.. And if anyone's interested, you can also pay using Indian Rupees.. Just in case anyone has any left over from their trip.

As I'd be driving in from the Midlands, either Stanmore or Southall would be good for me - as long as there's parking nearby.

The place that you'll should go to is Thattukada in East Ham, it is kerela cuisine. It is not the usual balti/curry/blob or Tayyabs (reserve in advance) for kebabs and mutton.
