So guys, summer's here.. and I'm up for a glass or two of wine. Are we not due a London or a West Country meet up soon? Anyone up for it? Any suggestions? I have to say, it will have to be early July for me.

One idea at our most enjoyable Bristol meetup yesterday was that we might arrange something in London to coincide with the London Mela on Sunday 10th August at Gunnersbury Park.

Anyone else interested?

London Mela Sunday 10th August - sounds excellent!

(The link Mrs C posted on the Bristol thread repeated here: http://www.londonmela.org/default1.a...ge%20 Maidaan)

Have now got my internet link up again after SIX WHOLE DAYS without. Still without the car too. Oh boy talk about culture shock. And grumpiness. Have to WALK everywhere. And no indiamike for a week. Huh.

Really sorry to have missed the Bristol bash - but hope to meet up on the 10th - with public transport, and a free event, it shouldn't weigh on the wallet too heavily (will they sell cider? - no, only kidding). Sorry if you're unable to be there Sssall - so what's this about a secret plan?

Good to hear from you Kingstonian. We can all get a bit grumpy at times but six days without Indiamike, that's tough.

As I won't be able to make the London Mela bash, I was just thinking ahead and of a possible meetup in September. Not really very cunning you might think but lets wait and see. You guys have a good time at the London Mela and we'll organise the September one after that.

I am up for it. Have sold it to the Mrs....said to her that there will be masala dosa and i hope that lie wont prove too embarassing.

the problem is the kids. The best way to convince them was to say that signature (from britains got talent) will be there. They cant wait....and i hope that signature are there too.

How do we all meet up though.

We met outside Acton Town tube station the last time we had a meet-up at the Mela (a few years ago).

I should be up for it (though might chicken out if the weather includes authentic monsoon torrential downpours on the day).

What time are people planning to get there?

Given my loathing of the Tube, I'll probably catch an overground to Kew Bridge and walk from there. There's a train that gets in at around 12.15.

I expect we'll be taking the bus or driving. My mum and possibly my dad are coming (they called me up to suggest it which is how I remembered that we all were supposed to be going! ) so it will likely be a short meet-up from me- you can't keep my mother away from pakora for too long. Really, it's uncanny- like a homing instinct.

So are we saying Acton Town tube station at around 12.30?
If anyone needs a map: http://tinyurl.com/29jfzs
Acton town station is just to the North East(ish) of the park. It's on the District and Piccadilly lines.

Just a thought.....

Acton town has been 'interchange' (between trains) only on the last couple of Sundays that I've had the misfortune of using the tube.

I don't know why the station wasn't open to customers, but often if there is any work taking place on a Sunday, it may also include Saturdays.

However, London Underground can't be stupid enough to have the station closed on the day of the Mela (probibly Acton Town's busiest day of the year), can they?
