Come on, Somnath. We're waiting. How was the meet? And how was it to meet up with the famed Sadhuji? Where is your IM meet report. Getting lazy in your old age?

Natasha, that’s a hit below the belt
!!!! “old age”? And Judi is right; we are not able to recover from it. As (plz do not speak louder) there was no meetup that day. We tried our best to make it happen but I had to keep my head down at office till 9 pm (after a long weekend) - scarified the meet but successfully saved my job. And Sadhuji? Who told you guys that he is a ‘Sadhu’ ? Sadhus are generally not emotionally attached to the society, human relationship but our Sadhuji of IM is absolutely a social and nostalgic man. He spent the day on feet. He went to experience the new look and feel of Kolkata. He walked for almost 100 KM through the roads of Kolkata and found himself in a whole new city. I am not going to tell you anymore about his experience, let him join he will tell you. But we are in touch over telephone. He is back to Calcutta after a long time so he has some commitment towards his relative friends and family so he has a very tight schedule. Hence we have decided he’ll give me a call when he is free and we’ll enjoy the pending tea. Judi and Natasha do not disclose this sad report of meetup uuuups it should be miss up. - Somnath |

why do i get the feeling that he won't like what he sees. Calcutta is becomming more and more faceless with each passing day. It will start looking like any of the other metros and i hate that about moving on and ahead. I will be waiting for sadhuji's comments. It's got to be interesting.

i am sorry that i could not meet you all in person.
yes, i have brought back pleasant memories. the first instalment is already posted today. entitled 'a dream called kolkata', i expect it will rekindle old flames. of course, somnath exaggerated when he mentioned that i walked 100 kms on the roads of kolkata. i actuially walked the length of theater road (known now as shapespeare sarani), then on to chowringhee road all the way upto park street. then i turned to free school street, new market and finally ended up in front ralli singh! after light refreshments there, i took the metro back to kalighat. it was a beautiful feeling. |

“Hi Somnath, this is Rene”.
“Ohhhh… Hi Rene, how are you? I am Somnath and she is Sree” - at the reception of Fairlawn hotel, Calcutta on 6th May,2005 time 5.55 pm. Yes friends this is my pleasure to share another IM meetup report from Kolkata. “Renedu", me and "Sree" spent a nice evening in the streets of Kolkata on that day. Rene arrived on 5th from Varanasi. I do not want to describe the condition of poor Rene (Doon express was running late by 6 hrs.) on arrival, let it be reserved for him only. Rene called me up and we decided to meet at his hotel. Rene was supposed to leave on 7th so he had a time constraint in Calcutta, so it was my suggestion that we’ll not spend the meetup evening on the hotel or any fixed place but we 3 will go to a few places together, so that rene can enjoy Calcutta and we all can enjoy the meetup. The proposal was accepted gladly. After a short interaction (you can say, formal introduction) regarding seen and unseen places, Rene shared his wonderful photographs of Calcutta and Varanasi; we went to the Academy of Fine Arts (realizing Rene’s area of interest). By the way, let me tell you on the way Rene has experienced the most noisy metro rail of the world (isn’t it Rene?). it was a rainy evening in Calcutta, we 3 went there spent some time at Nandan and Rabindra Sadan area, ignoring the light rain we walked for a while in the streets and enjoyed the amazing experience of Rene’s acting in Bollywood movie . Hey Rene, do not forget to post your picture in the movie (Rising). As soon as Rene posts the meetup pictures in IndiaMike, a Teacher-Painter, a Librarian and a Software Professional can be seen together. 1. http://www.indiamike.com/india/member.php?userid=2250 (Florence, Italy) 2. http://www.indiamike.com/india/member.php?userid=6231 (Kolkata, india) 3. http://www.indiamike.com/india/member.php?userid=4434 (Kolkata, India) Let me request Sree and Rene to post their feelings too. After the missup ( Kolkata Meetups ), I am glad to announce it was a great meetup once again in Kolkata. Thanks, Somnath Last edited by somnath : May 9th, 2005 at 17:25. |

Really it was a great experience. Me Sonmath and Rene spend a beautiful evening in "Kollolini Tilottama". I was a bit nervous before visiting there but afterwards I couldnot percept the passing of time. Rene is a great admirer of Ash. He even didnot missed the Bengali movie "Chokher bali". Beside this, he is quite familiar with Indian cinema. He even suggested his mom to view Baghban.
As Somnath told, we went to Academy of Fine Arts, Nandan & Rabindra Sadan. There we saw a small Book Fair. It was drizzling, and that made the evening more enjoyable to us.The weather (earlier which was really hot & humid) became so cool and pleasant that Rene appriciated the weather of Kolkata (actually it is not correct in this part of the year) a lot. Rene showed us some pictures taken by him and also shared some of his travel experience. I am eagerly waiting to hear from Rene and also looking forward to experience another meetup. |
