Hi friends,
Anyone wants a meet up in Kolkata? Today at 8.15 a.m. I’ve received a phone call - “Hi Somnath, I am in Kolkata now”, he was Sadhuji . Yes friends Sadhuji is in Kolkata now and we are planning to have a cup of tea at the evening . I can understand, it is a very short notice, still if any IMer (those who are in Kolkata now) can make it, will be a nice one. As it is the first working day after en extended weekend, I do not think I’ll be able to reach (the venue is YTD but it would be better around Bidhannagar) before 6.00 p.m. so there are a couple of hours to re-schedule our jobs for the meetup. Come on friends, if you think at least 50% chance is there please try to do it. Waiting for the PM. Cheers, Somnath |

Ooooooooh! I'm envious! Really wish I was in Kolkata now and able to join you this evening. Instead I'm stuck in grey, rainy old England ........ but I can read the postings on Indiamike and dream ......
Have a great evening! Judi |

Come on, Somnath. We're waiting. How was the meet? And how was it to meet up with the famed Sadhuji? Where is your IM meet report. Getting lazy in your old age?

Are you both still recovering from the Kolkata meetup - is that why you haven't posted for a while? Come on. guys - let us know how it went - and send news of Kolata to those sad souls (like me ) who are yearning for 'my' India.Hope you had a great time. |

Natasha, that’s a hit below the belt
!!!! “old age”? And Judi is right; we are not able to recover from it. As (plz do not speak louder) there was no meetup that day. We tried our best to make it happen but I had to keep my head down at office till 9 pm (after a long weekend) - scarified the meet but successfully saved my job. And Sadhuji? Who told you guys that he is a ‘Sadhu’ ? Sadhus are generally not emotionally attached to the society, human relationship but our Sadhuji of IM is absolutely a social and nostalgic man. He spent the day on feet. He went to experience the new look and feel of Kolkata. He walked for almost 100 KM through the roads of Kolkata and found himself in a whole new city. I am not going to tell you anymore about his experience, let him join he will tell you. But we are in touch over telephone. He is back to Calcutta after a long time so he has some commitment towards his relative friends and family so he has a very tight schedule. Hence we have decided he’ll give me a call when he is free and we’ll enjoy the pending tea. Judi and Natasha do not disclose this sad report of meetup uuuups it should be miss up. - Somnath |

why do i get the feeling that he won't like what he sees. Calcutta is becomming more and more faceless with each passing day. It will start looking like any of the other metros and i hate that about moving on and ahead. I will be waiting for sadhuji's comments. It's got to be interesting.

i am sorry that i could not meet you all in person.
yes, i have brought back pleasant memories. the first instalment is already posted today. entitled 'a dream called kolkata', i expect it will rekindle old flames. of course, somnath exaggerated when he mentioned that i walked 100 kms on the roads of kolkata. i actuially walked the length of theater road (known now as shapespeare sarani), then on to chowringhee road all the way upto park street. then i turned to free school street, new market and finally ended up in front ralli singh! after light refreshments there, i took the metro back to kalighat. it was a beautiful feeling. |
