That s a good idea but unfortunately Kolkata meetups are not as successful as it used to be. Hope this effort can infuse some life. BTW, what about your reservation status? You got your tickets, Somnath da?

If we all participate then it must be a successful one. This is the high time since we all prefer tour during Puja holidays.

My reservation date is 10th July for 8th October. Work in progress. Reservation slip written and waiting for final assault.

Travel & Tourism Fair-kolkata at Netaji Indoor Stadium (Kolkata)

Anyone interested for a meetup? I guess almost all the travel aficionado will visit this big show to collect some more info for forthcoming Puja holidays..... lets meet there. Any plan?

I'm afraid I will miss Durga Puja (again); 17th October is earliest I can leave here because of business reasons. However, there may be a Durga Puja here ... I'll have to check it out.

I arrive in Kolkata in the very wee hours of 18th, and have a few nights booked at Fairlawn -- enough to partially get over jetlag and hopefully to meet you and the "Kolkata regulars" before moving on around the country.

Depending on a friend's plans, next stop will be either Bishnupur or Dhaka ... obviously my itinerary is not carved in stone and possibly won't come clear for another six weeks or more.

And I'll be back in Kolkata very early in January, as I'll have to return to the US from there.

Actually, if everything goes well then I am going to Gomukh - Tapovan – Nandavan area in October and 19th Oct we’ll be back to Calcutta.

Vishnupur needs one nightstay – that’s all, so I think you can cover Vishnupur.

BTW, yesterday we went to Travel & Tourism Fair, Kolkata and it was a lovely event. Pavilion of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh were outstanding. Well, West Bengal Tourism Dept. always works hard for their lovely pavilion but these two were even better this time. So if any IM er is in Kolkata now, plz do not miss this one. Tomorrow is the last day.
Let me tell you friends, our member Ani_Rch was there in TTF and she is actively involved here because she is attached to a travel magazine (God knows how she can manage to write articles even after her hectic profession !!!!!) and gifted the first copy of 'Caravan' to me…

. She also shared her experience of Mountaineering course from NIM.
Anyways, wish some more Kolkata IMers will be able to attend meetups. I am really sorry that Somnath da (Somnath Biswas) couldn’t come due to some unavoidable circumstances but called me up but we couldn’t stay late. Sorry Somnath da, may be next time we’ll meet.

Somnath, hope you have a wonderful trek!

Closer to October, we can arrange to meet, or meetup, before I leave Kolkata for the west ... surely, if I go to Bishnupur, I'll be back in Kol and the same with Dhaka, so there should be plenty of chances -- and maybe we can get some old friends together!

The TTF sounds like a wonderful event!
