1st or 2nd of September might work for me, though it's awfully close to our move-in date. However, if we make this more of a "regular" thing, we'd certainly be open to meeting up with the IM gang at later dates!

Jeanne, hope you are here and trying to arrange everything. There is no rule to meet in August / September or something. Please let us know when you are free. But just a request please try to make it on weekends. BTW, if you need any info / help in Kolkata / Saltlake area …. Please do not hesitate to discuss here. I am sure Kolkata team will definitely try to help our new member.

As for us, my poor Hubby is both working and setting up house by himself while my son and I are still stateside. We will join him in India at the end of August.

I prefer Sunday (2nd Sep) for some very special features of Kolkata. It could start around 10:00 from the Steps of GPO (BBD Bag/Dalhousie)with a session of walking around through some specialities of Kolkata. Followed by Lunch break and finally finish in the central Kolkata under the Oberoi Grand Hotel.

Hi all

Although there is still a lot of time, I wanted to share that I will starting my Professorship at IIT-Kharagpur (KGP) next spring. Once I am there, and maybe even before I join there since I will be visiting IIT-KGP a few times, I will definitely like to join the Kolkatta meetup. It should be fun and I really want to go back to Anadi's Cabin for Mughlai Paratha. It was back in 1978 that I tasted it!

Dear Bhaswaran,
If you chk some past replies Ithink you would find that some ppl are just arriving that time to Kolkata. I will also be out to Nepal from 21st till 26th. It could be difficult to attend on 26th for me. so if possible change the date to 2nd sep.
I invite other members to say there timing s too. And why not in the morning so that we can really have small outing during that meet to show our city to the newcomers.

Morning 10 A.M. in Front of Oberoi Grand Hotel BATA shop? We willhave a walk in the morning through the British Area of Kolkata and have a boat ride to North Kolkata. We will walk through the roginal Old Kolkata and have a break. then we will fix up the rest.
It would be Free site-seeing for you. That could be specially interesting for you who are not from Kolkata.

if interested please write here and also send me a pvt. msg if possible. Becasue I will be out for the South Asian Tour leaders conference to Nepal from 21st - 26th August.
Hope we can have two meets in such a short interval.

Definitely we can have......I will try to attend the 2nd Sep also but cannot guarrantee....people coming to Kolkata please confirm.....you will have a good feel of Kolkata

I would! We won't be in the country until 29 Aug, so 26 Aug is too soon for me. Second of Sept should work fine though.

As usual, Somnath is not going to miss any Kolkata meetup.

And intervals are not a factor ……… because it is not like some series of evemts, just chit chatting ….. some tea or coffee and a nice evening with friends. So there are plans for two meetups….. please attend at least one according to your convenience.
