we hope, next time you will defenitely take us for all the foods ,you have mentioned on your chart, around Kolkata....
It’s OKCliff, aunty will forgive you. She is so good !!!! But what is this? You are asking Natasha to control appetite? No no, she just likes the quality food, not the quantity.

somnath, thanks for reminding me....
Tired, sweaty though quite happy – that’s the weather in Kolkata. Wish you more and more sweat.

hello all...

Natasha (mashi) your Food For Thought post is very comprehensive. WHy din't you ever write into one of those foodie columns in The Telegraph, i'm sure you passed on your chance to get famous to Nondon Bagchi. Personally though, the whole list would require me ages to run through thouroughly.

Competing with Bangalore meetups, aamra ki aar tomar shaathe paari? You being the experienced campaigner while we 1st time IM'ers.

Chelo Kebabs at Peter Cat... don't worry we'll definitely help you out on your tour of foodland as long as you buy us our tickets...

Ohhhh is it ? laterally inclined, you are going to sponsor the dinner?

Then Natasa plz set the menu for that. As cliff told you to control appetite, you must be in dieting. But believe us, we will never insist you. You just smell the flavor, After all "Ghrane ardhobhojon".
Ohh by the way do you know in Calcutta where could we get PAO BHAJI? Somnath was telling that it is his favorite item, but I forgot to ask the place where could I get it.

hi natasha aunty,
sorry foodie mashi, i agree that the food list sent by you is really good. ... you really have roamed around the food-places of Kolkata and believe me some of the places mentioned by you are my favourite too...
tell me one thing, ...i cannot understand how you are living in bangalore depriving your tongue.... dont you miss those foods????????
but i want to give you one suggestion..you have to update your list, because some of the places are not as good as they used to be.....

laterally inclined, interesting. You know, i once conducted a fashion show in IIT KGP for the Spring Fest. Spent three sleepless nights, singing, and being totally wild, having cha 3 in the morning at that little shop on the road that turns left before the college campus gate. BUT that was in my hay days. As you can see, a lot of people call me aunty now a days. Nice post, by the way.

Sree, pao bhaji, the first thing that comes to mind is Outram ghat, crowded on weekends, but nice nevertheless. I am sure there are other places but I can't remember right now.

Cliffhanger, yes, I know the food post is a little dated. Afterall, it has been 3 years since I left Cal. and I am sure lots of new places have come up since then. So what are you guys for? Update the list. Come on!

hmmm....

Sorry Sree, you ,being a resident bangali, stand disqualified for any sort of treat.

But i wish we could convince Peter Cat into giving us some free meals considering all the free publicity it has recieved on these pages. I'm sure any IM'er coming to town (after all this ruckus) will definitely stop by there.

Natasha...hmmm you talk of Spring Fest: don't worry, the being wild for 3 continuous days hasn't abated a BIT. We still have Cheddis (the tea stall you're talking of). ANd it routinely serves us food and cha all year round even at 3 or 4 in the morning depending on when the nightmares of drowning in books (a.k.a. Uttam Kumar style in Nayak drowning in banknotes) wake you up. I must say your Calcutta food guide is HUGE and there are many places i haven't been to. Maybe when you come down we could have a food festival kind of tour of Kolkata, given its reputation as being a foodie's paradise.
