So what day would be best for everyone? If Friday the 12th works best for most people, that's fine by me--I'll arrive at Howrah at 8 AM so (assuming all goes well with the train) I'll be free that afternoon/evening. If someone's got a better idea, I'm open to it.

What a timing
!!!! most of us are heading for a short trip. I am not sure I’ll be going or not but I’ll be back by 18th. Thirdreel please find the PM. Friends, if anyone of us is free on 12th plz try to meet Thirdreel (if I am not going outside Calcutta, I’ll be there But we don’t know where are you going to stay at Calcutta. it will help to fix the meetup place and time too. But you are requested not to leave your phone no (if you are carrying your mobile) or room no. etc on the thread. Plz let us know about your must see list in Kolkata. BigZee are you jealous? ![]() |

I'm planning to stay at the Hotel Victerrace. My "must-see" list has the Kali Temples, the Ramakrishna mission and the Tagore house, but I'm definitely open to suggestions.
Also, I might be changing my schedule, as I'm canceling the Himachal Pradesh visit I'd planned earlier in the trip. Would more people be free for a meetup if I arrived in Kolkata 2-3 days earlier? Just throwing that out. |

Hi,
I’ll be there. But thirdreel, why you are going to cancel the tour like Himachal? You are going to miss a lot. Let us know when it is fixed (try hard to cover Himachal). Your must see list is right. Kali temple – 1. kalighat. 2. Dakshinesware (http://www.catchcal.com/kaleidoscope...war_temple.asp ). Ramkrishna mission: http://www.catchcal.com/kaleidoscope...belur_math.asp Apart from these there are couples of more, please visit the Url and select as per your interest. Indian museum is centrally located and not far from your hotel, I’ll request you not to miss. |

. Anyway, flexibility is one of the most important things. I was going through your profile and found “Buddhist minister” in your biography. If this is not too personal……… I am a bit curious. |

I studied at the Still Point Zen Buddhist Temple in Detroit for three years in the Dharma student program. At the end of this program, I became a legal minister according to US law (not really a hard thing to do) and was given a teacher's robe. I'm not a monk--I no longer live in the monastery, I have a job, I'm not celibate--but I have led Buddhist ceremonies and taught meditation classes. My title in Korean Buddhism is Poep Sa Nim. I could, if I wanted, start my own temple or meditation center, but I'm not sure. I'm hoping some things come into focus soon. That's why I'm looking to see lots of temples in India, of all types--I want to see the roles these places play in people's lives. |
