Kolkata Meetups

I like the idea of having meetups in suburbs of Kolkata......off course it need to happen over weekend......

location should have good connectivity by road and rail connectivity and reachable within 1-2 hrs journey journey time

it will also give IMers a chance to visit new places

my idea of offbeat meetup locations are
1) at any of the ganges ghat
2) on boatride on ganges
3) at former colonies eg srirampore, chinsura etc
4) at dakshineswar, belur etc
5) lat bagan or gandhi ghat (barrackpore)
6) howrah, sealdah or any other railway station
7) kumartuli
8) Taki

and so on

I am proposing -

Date : 30th June
Time : 4 p.m.
Place : Indian Coffee House, College Street

I request everybody to check convenience

1) at any of the ganges ghat ; there are several park/picnic spot type at ganga ghats,
2) on boatride on ganges : private boats are available in different ferry ghats,
3) at former colonies eg srirampore, chinsura etc: local IMers can help.
4) at dakshineswar, belur etc : guest house/ restaurants are there,
5) lat bagan or gandhi ghat (barrackpore): possible,
6) howrah, sealdah or any other railway station: crowdy?
7) kumartuli : good to explore.
8) Taki - I think it'll take good time to reach and come back on same day.


Satyabrata, perhaps Saturday afternoon, coffee house will be no problem, if you are not joking!!!




Again I'm expecting all our female Kolkata IMers to propose/ suggest and join such weekend afternoon meet ups.

There is very popular handmade cold srink (Sharbaat) shop in the vicinity, Paramount, backside of the main entrance of the College Square Main entrance, beside the Viswabharati Outlet, in the same row of Mahabodhi Society Hall.

What will be your convinient time?

Let us fix the meet-up one by one. First, date, whether 30th June is convinient or not. Then time and last the venue. I have just given a proposal, any request for alteration is always welcome.

Please be more specific about the place.

I would love a place beside the Ganges(Barrakpore) or even a boat-ride on the river.
Off course, even any place in Kolkata is ok.

Any weekend is perfect for me..even 4pm!

A Tourism Fair will be held on 28-30 th June at Netaji Indoor Stadium. Can it be considered as the venue? After visiting the fair we can decide where we can eat & chat.

30th Jun is a Saturday, so I can join a meet-up at the Fair late afternoon.

Good initiative. But I won't be able to make it on 30th as I have already booked tickets for the R D Burman show at Kalamandir.Will meet you all next time.
