laterally inclined, interesting. You know, i once conducted a fashion show in IIT KGP for the Spring Fest. Spent three sleepless nights, singing, and being totally wild, having cha 3 in the morning at that little shop on the road that turns left before the college campus gate. BUT that was in my hay days. As you can see, a lot of people call me aunty now a days.
Nice post, by the way.Sree, pao bhaji, the first thing that comes to mind is Outram ghat, crowded on weekends, but nice nevertheless. I am sure there are other places but I can't remember right now. Cliffhanger, yes, I know the food post is a little dated. Afterall, it has been 3 years since I left Cal. and I am sure lots of new places have come up since then. So what are you guys for? Update the list. Come on! |

hmmm....
Sorry Sree, you ,being a resident bangali, stand disqualified for any sort of treat.
But i wish we could convince Peter Cat into giving us some free meals considering all the free publicity it has recieved on these pages. I'm sure any IM'er coming to town (after all this ruckus) will definitely stop by there. Natasha...hmmm you talk of Spring Fest: don't worry, the being wild for 3 continuous days hasn't abated a BIT. We still have Cheddis (the tea stall you're talking of). ANd it routinely serves us food and cha all year round even at 3 or 4 in the morning depending on when the nightmares of drowning in books (a.k.a. Uttam Kumar style in Nayak drowning in banknotes) wake you up. I must say your Calcutta food guide is HUGE and there are many places i haven't been to. Maybe when you come down we could have a food festival kind of tour of Kolkata, given its reputation as being a foodie's paradise. -LI ![]() my blog |

Hi indiaguide,
Nice to here from you. How are you? Almost one-month silence speaking a lot about extensive travel experience. If possible please share with us. Thanks to everyone for the info regarding Pao-Bhaji. Actually it was at Juhu, Mumbai where I tried this item for the first time. I find it is a nice item when you are in mood to munch something tasty and feeling just a hint of hunger in your stomach. Well, we use to hit Fingertips (at Saltlake, Kolkata) after office hours for this item. Quote:
Never mind Sree, work hard. Guys just a request, no more aunty / mashi etc. to our friend Natasha. Else she will me. And Big’Zee you are coming once again? That’s great. Paagla Dashu, I need you help here: FOOD for thought! if you have some time, please have look and help me….. Cheers, - Somnath |

Up for a Kolkata meetup in August?
Hey everyone. I'm going to be in Kolkata from August 12 to August 18. Suppose we could get some people interested in a meetup during that time?
