I shortly landed in Chennai and I'm a bit bored here; would love to meet new people ! However is this meeting really a place where you can meet (meaning : no crowded pub with loud music where it is difficult to communicate) ?
If it sounds like it, i'll try joining on sunday if i can (but i too feel like besant is a bit far off from downtown, if some of you want to arrange for the way back...?)

We do different districts: recent ones I have been to have been ECR, Egmore, Nungambakam, and now back to ECR again. The fact that not too many people are tending to turn up means that, yes, we meet and chat. This place I do not know, but I hope it is not loud!

Can easily give two or three people a lift up the road to Adyar, or even to the nearest MRTS station.

The dining area is outdoors. I don't remember any music and it was fairly quiet last time I was there. It's right next to the beach, so you can walk off your meal if you wish.

Gibsy, what area are you staying in? I will be going on my bike, so I can give you a ride if you are nearby.

If anyone wants to meet up at Marina Beach and head over to Pupil together, let me know.

Pupil is near Barista Coffee Shop, near Eliot Beach. If you cannot get a lift home afterwards & don't want to take a rickshaw, there is a bus stop near there and there is a bus stop at the main intersection of B. Nagar that is the beginning of many lines (23C, 29C, 47A, 5E, etc.), so you are guaranteed a seat.

It's worth it to come a bit early to the main area--there's the Eco-Nut health food store which has 2 kinds of full grain bread & other goodies(look above the ICICI bank) and Fashion First, (also look up)which gets overruns of made-for-export clothes (men, women, kids) and sells at great prices. There is a good veg restaurant 1/2 block from Subway--Vasanthan Hot Spot, I believe, if u want to eat veg first.

About 2 blocks from Pupil is Andrha Bavan, which has good Andrhan food (inc. veg thali all day).
