There is, I think, a kart place near Island Gardens.

I have no idea about 'best' --- not my thing.

Further, I'd advise great caution. You should understand that the only test or check that equipment is likely to have been subject to is it is still in one piece and it works. I should be very surprised if any proper safety standards are adhered too.

There are only two i know off.. one near marina beach and one called Kart attack just 50 m after Check post on ECR and before toll gate.. Mayajaal one has been closed.. I liked it.. but cost was a lil too steep for my liking.. they charge about 200 for a smany laps as you can do in five minutes!! and if you take on hour basis.. you get about 35 races.. 5 karts X 7 times.. i found it decent haven't ben to one near maria so can't compare!!

Interesting concept. Searching the web for +karting +chennai throws up 98.000+ hits, so there should be something there (try searching for Madras while you're at it).

Safety might be a real concern yes. I don't know Nick, on my primitive Caribbean island it was a top sport, that's about all I can tell you. But better make sure what you're stepping into, certainly, and these guys were professional racers, not hobbyists (although it stands to reason they must have started somewhere).

The marina beach one is what Nick is telling about!!

AS to what 5 X 7 means.. you'll get maximum of 7 races with maximum 5 karts at time for 5000 bucks.. which preferably should be completed in one hour..

the one one near the marina is pretty sucky, costs like 50bucks for 5 laps i think. pretty cheap but they dont allow more than three karts at a time due to safety. its a govt maintained place (ttdc) so dont expect anything fancy.

other adventure sports? might want to check out the f3 races at the irungatukottai race track complete with racegirls

or try something a little more local and take a ride on a fishing boat from kasimedu harbour (not too safe, but thats the adventure

)
or heck, just take a walk on ranganathan street on a saturday evening

There are two others that I know of apart from the ttdc:-
1)Kart Attack ECR near VGP Golden Beach
2) Go Karting in Navalur OMR.

Accidents while Karting is still a alien concept(no records).

hmpf, just browsed back and it doesnt look like theres much meeting going on.

not sure how many are interested, but if you're willing to wake up at 6am you can catch me at elliots beach on the weekends. theres a bunch of us who play ultimate frisbee

good exercise and great place to meet people too

i rememeber i told you i'll be joining but really dude six'o clock early morning not possible.. even if i somehow getup (which itself is a big deal) i mostly will end up takin my dogs for walk.. so apologies for not being able to join even though i said earlier i would!!
