I have the thought that it slightly defeats the object if it turns out to be more non-IM than IM, but I'm not at all hard-line about that, so other thoughts are ok too! And it goes without saying that partners are included.

Presently, it would be nice just to get a meet together, as we seem to have gone off the boil.

zara is on cathedral road opposite chola sheraton.. they serve tapas and alcohol.. kinda lively on friday/saturday.. but could be noisy...

Absolutely no point, my hearing problem means that even a modest amount of background noise means I can't hear a thing being said nearby.

I am sorry, but I can't make it this weekend.... I know I suggested the time, but we have unexpected guests. No point taking them to the meeting. So I am sorry for skipping this time

But next time I will definately be there. What about going to a classical concert next time? I would love to go to one, but somehow never get around to it. Would be nice to see one with an expert like Nick around

It's a great place, but the music is played so loudly that you have to shout to be heard. However, perhaps earlier in the evening the music is not as loud. Anyone been there before 9 pm?

i was there three days back!!! was crowded even at 8.. mostly i guess cos next day was holiday in chennai.. but music wasn't loud..

i think jim it would be hard to get reservation (leave alone going there and getting entry) if no female companions especially on saturday night..

but if you are very regular there you can speak to Arasu the manager and get easily

Of course, I have nothing against going to concerts --- but is it such a social thing to do?

I think also, that most of the locals will have long-since decided whether or not they enjoy carnatic music, and those that do do go, those that don't, errr, don't.
But if there are a few more in this category, then yes, its a great idea.

I really am no expert, not at all --- but give me a date and I'll see if I can spot a not-so-heavy-weight performer that might be a neat introduction.

Mirjam, if you ever want to do this anyway, you, or you plus a visiting friend, perhaps... you have my number!

Sure Nick. It's a good idea to do it outside an IM meeting, because it might not be everybody's cup of tea...
