I appreciate that earlier on a weekday is hard for the workers, but please choose somewhere South-East of Anna Salai: I just don't want to take on that evening traffic!

If you people want to do bars, please do, but I'll leave you to it as I'm just not a bar person. In London I'm a greasy caff person; here I'm a tea-shop person! But somewhere like Amythyst or that Chalmiers Road place is a good compromise.

Whatever... don't let my fussiness put you off or change your plans!

Im in! I am free after about 2.30, so the afternoon is good for me too. Shall we meet up at Anokhi? It's the sister cafe of Amethyst, on Chamiers Road.

And Stella, do try to make it. I don't know where you stay, but taking an auto is the easiest thing to do in Chennai. If you come for the OWC meeting in the morning we can all go together. Would be nice to meet you! I know about husbands who are protective, I also have one

But doing things on your own sometimes is really good too...

I personally would prefer a evening Beer meet.

6.30pm would be ok for me. It can always be a relay meet: if some want to start and finish early.

Always better to allow plenty of time for getting to the station, though.

If you are going straight there, Mirjam, then Amethyst would be closer, and certainly fine for me.

Mirjamd, I can't come to OWC meeting this time because I'm in a process of applying for PIO, so they told me to come this Wed morning.
My hubby wants to come too

He wants to meet you guys . And also since I still don't know Chennai well, he protects me very much and until I got familiar with Chennai well enough, he prefers I don't go anywhere alone.
We live in Madipakkam ( Velachery).
Where is Amethyst by the way?

It is Gopalapuram, which is an arera of Royapettah, which is to North of Mylapore, which is to the North of Adyar...

Err... I wonder how your husband thinks you will ever get to know Chennai!!! Tell him I got to know it by walking around it, and if he says that it is different for a man, tell him I said, "Tosh!". There, that's a nice polite way to put it

What you need, to put your man's mind at rest, is a tame driver. Even I tell my wife to "call when she gets there," but when she has got her regular driver I don't give a second thought until she gets back.

Amethyst is where we had the last meet; so the address can't be many posts back. Will check it out for you tomorrow, if someone else doesn't first.

Mrs N won't be coming this time, I'm afraid. Actually, she is quite protective of me, sometimes! Maybe the four of us should get together and compare notes.

Yes, you've got the location correct, the road runs between Lloyds Road to the South and Peter's Road to the North. I don't think one can turn right into Peter's Road from Mounts Road, I think I usually turn onto Cathedral Road at Gemini, and take left turn towards Gopalapuram immediately before the flyover.
