Well, I will go, yes. If there's anything to tell, I'll report back.

For the next meetup, can it please be a bit more central, or a bit more Southern?

Earlier would be nice too, like afternoon or even early evening at a weekend

Well, if it was the male equivalent, so would I --- but it seems they are not, or this kind of function wouldn't happen.

Of course there is a very positive side to it, and the celebration of menstruation, rather than demonising it, is one view that could be explored, although in a culture where a menstruating woman is not supposed to enter a temple etc, I don't how far we'd get on that one. I suppose, actually, it is the celebration of fertility.

I guess the underlying origin is the message, Hey, everything working; available for marriage. Not a particularly feminist message.

Anyway, enough anthropology: I hope this small girl will enjoy her party; I'm sure she will.

Thank god I don't work here

Maybe tell hubby you are going alone (and will make it as late as you please, too)?

Anyway, not my business, of course. Don't say IndiaMike made you do it

yes, its a good way of announcing that, but feminism has a different definiton in this part of the world

And of course, almost everyone who goes through this enjoys it & more so the parents of the kid or rather the woman.

I've noticed.

The World Women's Day supplement in the newspaper will be full of cooking equipment ads!

That's because we in India believe feminism starts in the kitchen.

(Now ducking quickly and running hard)

that's the equivalent of walking into a seaside pub frequented by the navy - and yelling out that you need a lift because the navy is simply there to act as a taxi for the REAL fighting men!
