Too late! The cat is out of the bag!

But Jag... You found the airport?

(
errr... Yesterday I was on the way to Shennoy Nagar, not far from Jag's part of Chennai, and a journey I've done many times, as the inlaws live there. Where my brain thought it was going (to the airport for a drink maybe? ) I have no idea, but as I turned left from SP Road, heading airport-bound on Anna Salai, I swore loudly. No U-turn until Kathipara --- might as well take 100-foot road and go via Ashok Nagar and Koyambedu.

It took more than twice as long as usual, but hey, I like exploring and hadn't been that way for a while: I did enjoy the drive!

No Nick,

There is a U Turn. Cross Campacola Grounds and you will be about to enter guindy bridge to cross the railway tracks. All you got to do take the left side road before entering guindy bridge.

Keep heading straight for 200 meters and you have a a U turn near Madras Race Club (Other side of Guindy Railway station.)

That road will pass under the guindy main road and over the railway tracks and will reach SPIC building in a giffy. It will be one like a dark tunnel. One of its kind in Chennai.

Anyway...Happy exploring

Anyway, whilst I don't want our meetup thread to encourage it (but hey, I am but one member), I think we ought to get back to ---- meetups!
Team Bhp has got very bad reviews, because of attitude of moderators, they expect us to write essay explaining why we want to join team bhp also i read team bhp reviews on mouthshut.com, its not encouraging. Nick are you a moderator of team bhp?

My registration request got rejected 2 times in team bhp. So i now joined Auto car india ;-)

Ah! So that's where the traffic heading down there goes!

Many thanks for that

Goodness... I just registered and started posting! Although they do moderate all new-member posts, and yes, the moderation is pretty strict --- and no, I am not a moderator there.

Nor likely to be a mod anywhere ever again. Did it here for two years; good experience, but once you stop you just don't feel like doing it again.

mouthshut.com has had some poor reviews too. If you wanted to trawl the drains of the internet, you would find that there's a few people around who do not love IndiaMike!

so trying to take us back to topic
i'm keen on cinemas but not at all keen on malls (no great surprise since being a girl i hate shopping and love football - sorry to be so stereotypical)

If for food i would prefer to meet up in one of the nice places already found... I am easy if weeknight or weekend - how about one day next week (eg Thurs 8, Fri 9, Sat 10 or Sun 11)? what suits?

it'll be my last weekend in chennai so up for some good south Indian food...

Speaking as a guy who loves shopping, loathes foorball, and never goes to the cinema...

For Jackio's last Chennai weekend, perhaps we should do Vasantha Bhavan again? Perhaps she could go for the meal experience this time (too much for my small appetite!).

I think any of those dates is ok for me.

I'll be Chennai for about 14 hours on Oct. 3 (Saturday) before moving out. Planning to watch "Up" @ Satyam (1:30 PM show).

So, how about a movie meetup?

Since I got broadband internet connection at home, I stopped going to Theatres to watch movies, and the heck is even if I download any movie, which I usually get within 2-3 days of releasing in theatres, there is chance that I might never watch it or just delete it in half way.

I get to see super quality at my home, and can watch whenever I wish. So its more than 2 years that I went to Cinema Hall to watch a Film. Phew saved lots of money I suppose,

I love natural places, climbing mountains, beaches, forests,

That road does lead to a long road called 5 Furlong road and it will lead you to Velacherry Checkpost.

300 meters from guindy race course entrance, you get a right. You take that road and it will lead you to adambakkam / St Thomas railway station and the road ultimately will take you to tambaram via Ullagaram, Puzhudhivakkam, Madipakkkam, Keezhkattalai, kovilambakam, medavakkam, madambakkam & selaiyur.

Less traffic towards tambaram, but it will be like a dirt bike track.

I wonder about those those roads too. Last time I tried to "cut across" towards the airport road, everything was easy until I got to the railway line and the flyover that has been part built for years. It then becomes quite difficult to get to the crossing and escape the railway.

Then, a couple of times I have needed to get to, or get home from, Nanganallur, and have found that to be an awful journey, with narrow "main" roads carrying heavy traffic.

I've also wondered about the road that starts near Velacherry race course, I think it is the five-furlong road, and going that way to join South-bound Anna Salai.

Good to know you are as well-informed about roads and routes as everything else here!
