Yeah, I am also looking forward to meet some IMers. It's not sure yet if Chennai will be my first stop or my last one, so either I will be jetlagged again or have a lot to tell...or leave the talking to hubby (he wants to be part of the India experience next time

yeah, I am back in Germany since September 10th, unfortunately

but I might take the invitation to a wedding in Bangalore in December as chance to come back as fast as possible

(bitten by the India bug?)

Only in india can you get away with drinking and driving. Get stopped by cops, no problem! 50 Rupees would do the job! Driving on saturday nights seems to be more like a game of street racer on the Xbox!

that has changed..... now you get thrown in jail... no questions asked. these days higher ups are embarrassed to intervene in such cases also.... so no help from the top ranking uncle either....

And if it happens to be some one elses car youre driving? he gets booked too for abetting the crime... thats what happens in mumbai... no direct experience of the latter happening in chennai though.... I know i do not want to find out...

for most other ofeences? yes... a few days back i got off breaking a red light and not having papers with me wityh just a phone call.. no tip. but D&D is different...

Interestingly, my other favourite forum, team-bhp, now has a zero-tolerance rule towards drinking and driving. A post such as "we drove to the resort, had a few drinks, and drove home" would be deleted!

Anyway, whilst I don't want our meetup thread to encourage it (but hey, I am but one member), I think we ought to get back to ---- meetups!
