Hi,

I heard that going to the cinema is a must-do while in India. I wondered if anyone can give me any advice on the best cinema's to go in Chennai? And before you SHOUT

at me for posting in the wrong thread, does anyone fancy a Chennai Cinema Meet-up?

The best cinema theater, as we proudly call it, would be Sathyam Cinemas. They've been renovating over the years and right now, it's turned into this building where plenty of movie screens, a couple of restaurants and if you ARE the gaming type, then there's a game arcade on the top floor. Some would say INOX is top class but Sathyam is The only theatre I'd recommend since it has popcorn and plenty of butter combined with a large number of seasoning spices with which one can go absolutely wild.

Some brand new Mall just opened on Poonamalle High Road/Nelson Manikam Road, with cinemas --- maybe a good idea to see it while it is new?

Shucks-looks like we missed the meet-up. It's probably because I was too busy begging domestic help to come clean my newly rented apartment! I tell you-I never realized how challenging a language barrier can be.
Anyway, wrong forum to be venting-the better half and I did try the tapas restaurant this weekend (Zara's)-it was okay and a change from all the local flavors I'd been having. So who knows-maybe one of the meet-ups could be there!

it aint open yet... a soft opening is planned for tomorrow with 22 stores... others will come up in phased manner over 3 months... and the pvr multiplex should be on steam by the end of october....

and then "Nightmare on Nelson Manikam road" will be scripted....

Still... They seem to have the Citi Centre traffic under control now; it was fine when I went past on Saturday afternoon.

Actually... come to think of it, when do I next have to go there? tomorrow!

if the food court is operational.... For that matter Citi Center would be decent too... No one to evict us from our table after we park our behinds on one.... and a Movie afterwards... that would be the Chennai cinema meetup as Jacki posted...

The Ampa Skywalk (as the new mall is named) will be fully operational only in about 3 months...

I guess ill also have a quick look at the mall tomorrow and see what is available...

Well... I'm not so sure that the Mall atmosphere is so conducive.

We have a couple of restaurants already (one trad S. Indian, and one cosmopolitan) where we know we are able to be relaxed and not be hassled.

why do so many people have trouble with this meetup concept....

PS: Last minute meeting at that time????? oh well you shoulda atleast rang up some one.. the meetup finally broke up at 2 AM...

Ditto at the mall.... you can be relaxed and no one will hassle you.... well atleast not to vacate the tables as they are all in a common area and you neednt keep ordering something to remain seated there...
