sitting in singapore and thinking of the meetup...started the thread but ooops i havent come to any of the meetups in chennai...tough luck on me...u guys have fun ...

My stomach is playing up today so I hope I'll be there! Be rotten luck if I have to spend the day in my toilet instead

Assuming I'm there I'm pretty easy to spot: I'm likely to be the only European wearing vesti and kurta... Also my profile has a photo, although I look a bit older now!

Well it was a nice meeting in a nice place.

At least I think it was

... Apologies for being almost completely deaf. I wish I could have joined in properly in the conversation.

My hearing is improving today (I can use the telephone on the left ear again) but I'll still get the doctor to take a look.

Pity that people had to rush off. Suseela and I took a walk to the Laksmi temple then had another Juice afterwards and met an American movie producer.

Hi Nick,

Yes it was indeed a nice and brief meet-up in Chennai! Glad to have met you all!

For others, here is a short note on what happened:

- the venue was the Fruit Shop in Besant nagar, and the meet-up was scheduled at 4.30.

- I came in first with my brother ( who works in chennai and was showing me around the city

). Spiritedchick came next, and we had a brief conversation outside the shop when vinay verma too came along. It was not too difficult recognizing him from the million meetup photographs in this site

. Nick and Suseela came in next, and nick looked exactly like what he had described himself! a European in a nice kurta and vesti. We moved in and settled around a table, and Rav too joined us by that time.

- We started off our chitchat, got to know each other etc. the only bad part was nick's ear which decided to go on strike for the day

Nick, glad to know that things have improved since then. We still got to communicate, had our round of Juices, and after sometime decided to move out to the beach.

- The beach walk was nice - a stone's throw away from the Fruit shop. There was a bit of a crowd, but we got our space to be together, admire the scene and also engage in some conversation.

- I did take some photos, so did spiritedchick, and nick filmed the momentous occasion on his handycam.. I am still an old-world film person, so it will take a while to post the pics - have to finish the film you know...

- We had to leave rather quickly, Vinay had a friend coming over, we had to reach somewhere else, etc. and so after about a half an hour at the beach, we said our bye-byes and went our ways.

- For me it was a great opportunity to catch-up with all these beautiful people. Missed vinay in the bangalore meet-up, finally caught him here! looks like he is going to be around in bangalore again for perhaps another meet-up! Nick, rav, hope to catch you again next time in chennai! it was wonderful talking to you, though nick wasn't at his chatty best (at least not as chatty as he is on this thread!

) due to his bad ear.. and Spiritedchick, all the best for the good work you are doing in chennai, and hope you have a nice journey back home. and finally Vinay, you promised to give me a buzz when you pass thro in hyderabad next..

I am the one on the extreme right with the camera bag over my shoulder... my brother is the one pointing. LOL, it never occured to me that you must have missed a bit on the introduction part too!

Rav is on extreme left and VinayVerma in front.

My bro was pointing to the paratha joint which he recommends highly . Vinay, did you finally manage to find the place ? You were last seen walking briskly in the general direction....

Rav, it was intersting to know that you had a connection with my favourite map book.

I did get a bit confused on the introductions, (I usually do anyway!). but got the basics ok

...But who was the woman in the pink sari?
