Do we need to get our tickets for the film in advance?

Edit
What do you reckon?
If yes - the online site is here

I've been deliberately silent about this because I have no money so I can't offer to make a block booking, otherwise I would. Sorry.

Chapter is rarely full, BUT this is a popular film. Perhaps wise to make a booking ahead of time in this case.

As it's bookable on-line (£6.20), I was thinking we could each book our own anyway ...

Is it free seating, or are they numbered? In other words, would all of us buying individual tickets mean everyone is spread out all over the place?

Ummm....ummm....ummmm...

Last couple of times it was free seating. Let me give them a ring one second.

OK, it's free seating and they haven't sold a single ticket for that night yet, so booking on arrival might be OK.

For groups of 8 or more you get one seat free, but I sure as hell ain't got the cash to pay for that! To get the free seat you have to book over the phone; the online system doesn't give the free seat.

Count me in for the Cardiff meetup. I would have preferred to return the same day but hey, this is no ordinary meetup, this is an Indiamike meetup .

Apologies for not being a very good contributer to Indiamike lately. Theyyam, how are you and how's mr T? Hope to see you again soon in the UK.

Great!

I don't know if The Londoner might be driving back afterwards? It would mean a late arrival home though. Otherwise my floor is your...er...floor.

Inflatable bed at the ready!

I'd be up for it on the 7th.

Ssall has just PM'd me to offer me a lift, so looks like 2 to add to your list.

Yay!

1. The Londoner
2. Karuna + 1 (for the film bit)
3. Kingstonian
4. Haylo
5. Tonylittle
6. Sssall
7. Mrs C_772

Well, we have 8, if you include my hanger on, so there's a free seat in it if someone wants to brave the bill and collect the cash afterwards. Erk.

Hey guys, hope all are well and not snowed under as we are in London, though it looks so beautiful outside.

Are we still up for this Saturday? Looking forward to it already.

Yes, I hear that none of the buses are running at all down your way! Not so bad up here this morning, though we're getting it now and the forecast is pretty dire, up to ten inches they reckon.

Still up for it on Saturday.

Has anyone checked whether there are still lots of tickets left? (A bit concerned in case award nominations lead to sell out).

Snowed in today - tried to go to work, made it half a mile, saw stationary traffic on the main road and gave up and came home. Took 15 minutes shovelling snow off the drive before we could get the car back on the drive. Other half (whose office is up a treacherous narrow farm track) and I gave up on the idea of work, and made a snowcat (instead of a snowman) in the back garden instead!

Still no word from Mikewill. Where are you?!

I hope this snow has cleared before Saturday.

Here's our karuna with a quick reminder:

7th February 5.30pm at the Veg. Food Studio

By train
  • Get off at Cardiff Central station and use the back exit (just look where most people are going and go the other way!).
  • Walk through the car park bearing right down Penarth Road so the AA building and Lloyds building are on your left.
  • Walk past the Big Yellow Storage warehouse thing and cross the bridge over the river.
  • The Veg Food Studio is in the first row of shops on the left.

By car
Here's a map showing the route from the M4 eastbound:
http://tinyurl.com/dexlxk

Driving directions in words!
It sounds more complicated than it is!
  • Leave the M4 at junction 29 and join the A48M. It's a dedicated left hand lane turning.
  • Continue down the dual carriageway. Keep continuing.
  • The speed limit drops to 40mph by the hospital and there's a speed camera (helps to stay in the right hand lane around there as many people will be going off at the next interchange).
  • Keep going- you'll hit a set of lights by the big Tesco on the left. Once over those lights, stay in the left hand lane. Cross the river.
  • Go under the UWIC footbridge and past the small entrance to WJEC offices on the left.
  • You're taking the next LEFT turn signposted A4119 City Centre. Stay in the left hand lane.
  • At the lights at the end, turn left. Over a pedestrian crossing. When the road splits into two lanes, stay on the left.
  • Take a LEFT at the lights (signposted city centre) onto Penhill Road (becomes Cathedral Road later).
  • Keep going and going and going down Cathedral Road. Straight on at the lights by the Cayo Arms pub (on the left).
  • Next set of lights, go STRAIGHT ON.
  • Straight on at the roundabout, straight on at the lights, under the railway bridge.
  • You'll start to see some shops, a lot of Asian shops, Halal butchers, sari shops etc. At the next set of lights turn sharp LEFT onto Penarth Road (it has a separate turning lane). Past big red sari shop on the right.
  • The Veg Food Studio is quite far down on the right hand side next to a Chinese supermarket. If you cross the river, you've gone too far. There are often parking spaces in the road alongside the Chinese shop or around that area.

I hope this helps!

Yes, looking forward to the meetup.

I managed to drive from West London to Cambridge this morning without hitting anyone or being hit. It was very slow though.

If its alright with everyone, I'll try to book the tickets online this evening around 7.30.

<<crossposted- that sounds good to me! If you want to buy all 8, do it by phone- you get one free. Doesn't work with the online booking >>

If you want to book cinema tickets in advance, the number of Chapter's Box Office is: 02920 304400

If you find yourself driving in circles round Cardiff's interminable terraced streets, The Vegetarian Food Studio's number is: 02920 238222
