after two sleepless nights i am finially infront of my comp bleary eyed and doubly hating Monday! Yes, i have to admit it was a great meet!!
the topics ranged from our travel experiences, kerala, of course, (greatest place, worst food!) to how we met our respective partners. i must have bugged sudheer for half an hour after which talking about what i want to do in life - in the process of registering a NGO and meeting people for funds. At the end of the fairly monologous discussion, sudheer drove home the point that i will have to go back to him for "strategising!" which is his forte. And we talked about hindi movies and english and i spent a fruitless time convincing them how i am not snooty and not a racist. but all of us agreed that Robin Williams is a great actor and Michael Douglas looks like a porn star! The performances, i agree with Sudheer. Strings is basically like a good college band which just got plain lucky. nothing to write home about. sayed Adil Hussain was another thing altogether. Even though he doesn't have the "kashish" (please translate someone) of Nusrat fateh ali's voice, he makes it up in his simplicity and sincerity. And sufi music being what it is, we were all blown away. by the time we went back home we were these happy bunch of well fed children! Star crosser in the mean time lapped up all the shouting and cheering and whistling that she found totally overwhelming. you can imagine how a poor soul from the "stiff upper lip" zone would react when thrown right in the middle of things in India. She throughly enjoyed herself and started dancing and cheering herself by the end of it all! ![]() The classic IM thing happened when we took pictures. The first picture turned out to be dark with three dark figures floating around in the darkness. The second picture had only our legs! the third picture finaly managed to get a decent picture of us. i went back yesterday again. Sudheer and Star Crosser ditched me. yesterday was Shankar Mahadevan, Shivamani, Louis Banks, Shreedhar and ?? (guiratist I forgot his name!) jamming it up. It promiced to be good at the start, cause they had worked out some carnatic fusion and world music. really good stuff. But after three numbers the crowd, the general Janta wanted Shankar Mahadevan to sing hindi film songs!!! to say that i was dissapointed is an understatement! I have nothing against hindi music, it's just that you don't order for steaks and expect pongal to turn up!!! And i am dissapointed in the fact that all of them being talanted musicians gave in to popular demand. for heavens sake, you don't need Louis Banks and Shivamani to come down all the way to Bangalore to play "pretty woman, dekho dekho na!!" i was so disgusted that i left. But the general Janata cheered and danced away. And i feel it is all very sad and disheartening. Even "Antaraagani" has a better performance. Such talanted musicians and doing their own compositions and to hell with.... blah blah lah.... i can go on and on... But getting back to the IM meet, it was great! Way to go!! let's do it again, some time soon! ![]() Last edited by natasha.ca : Dec 13th, 2004 at 13:34. |

hey no talk of ditching please! I have goulish jailkeepers who I've already annoyed by turning up at 2:30am after the hubba and woke them up....all this on my first day So it was a kebab and general cheekiness from Sudheer on the way home...now Natasha would I ditch you for that?? I think not. |

Artist's walk is just this little walkway on the MG road with people displaying their artwork and photography, you can get a tarot reading done too along with other hippyish things (which I love!) but not sure if it's still on....?

The unofficial meetup update :)
The long overdue update on the last IM meetup in Bangalore..
![]() Myself and starC were on a tour to nandi hills when I got a message from Vinay that he has landed! We then called up a sleepy natasha to set the stage for the meetup later that day. We decided on meeting up at peecos at 6.30. After an exhausting day of travel, we reached there for a quick drink but they hardly had anything to eat. In a few moments the cheery Vinay popped up and we did the initial round of hi - hello beyond which we decided to move on to a better eatery and decided on 13th floor. But then it was quite early for 13th Floor and hence, we decided to hang around at the Barista (by now the lucky venue of three IM meetups and graced with history of serving - the great bijapuri, martin, hash et al) where we had some drinks and stretched our time. 7.30 we moved into 13th floor with a heavy cover charge and started off on the usual topics when natasha joined us and then it was a roll. We had some great food and then decided to move on to some place else for dinner. Decided on Elements for the next bite and headed off to Koshy's to pick up natasha's sweet hubby (not sure who is more sweeter natasha or her hubby!). But being in Koshy's we did stop for a bite and drink there ![]() Then all packed into natasha's car and headed to Elements but that place was FULL and hence we had to place for something else. Split between the idea of packing food home and stopping over (yet) another restuarant, finally we decided on queens in church street. Had to almost get them to open a closed kitchen and allow us in for the dinner, which all of us enjoyed to the core.. Then it was good bye time after toying with the idea of a long late night drive.I just could not stop myself to head for a bite of fannoos roll before calling it quits ( ) So that was the last unofficial bangalore meetup update Did anyone count on how many restaurants we visited that evening ![]() Highlite of the day was Vinay's (famous) negotiating skills which managed us entrance in two of the places ![]() |
