Last time I was in India 5 years ago, I spent the whole year after it glued to the LPTT - India branch. I suspect the same will happen this time but with IM.

www.realindiamike.com - the "real" india travel forum. haha.

When I finally get home (to London) then I'll organise my best photos and post them on here as well.

Okay! here goes.
I got the passes for everyone. That is - myself, whole bunch of friends, sudheer, star crosser, and phantom! Let the bidding begin!! And i got extra passes for beautiful people trying to get in with "compliments from IM" as Vinay suggested.
So the game plan is :
We are meeting at Barista - Barton Centre, MG Rd. at 6:00 pm.

For the benifit of StarCrosser: Barista is the name of a cafe. Barton Centre (building) MG rd. - any rick will take you there. Its a fairly prominent place.
hey, just pulling your leg. If i didn't know better, i'd think Big Ben was the name of a wrestler!

From Barista, we'll proceed to Palace Grounds.
the programmes on are -
Shiv Kumar Sharma - Santoor (Indian Cassical music)
fashion show - this is where we go for a round of the food festival. For hungry souls like me and Sudheer! Yes, there is a food festival on at the same place!
Strings - Pakistani pop band
Sayed Adil Hussain - Sufi music.

And depending on whoever wants to go home at whatever time, we bid adieu.

All those in favour, say aye!

usha,
it doesn't say anything in the schedule but his son, Rahul Sharma is playing with him. So it's a santoor duet.
I have heard most of them. Dover Lane music festival in Calcutta used to be really good and i was quite a regular at it. Since my mom-in law is also into music, it makes life easier for me. So we would leave the men in our lives watching cricket and go wandering off to the all night concerts. Had some really good time.
and of course, they are amazing. thankfully i have a few musician friends in Bangalore so we get together and jam up once in a while.

!! Call it a blast, call it a meet up !!

This edition of meetup was a real dazzler!!! Might even compete for the post of best IM meetup world wide - that ever was that ever will be

At 6 pm in the decided venue, Starcrosser was present expecting the "on time". Bangalore members to turn up. I was only 30 mins late and conveniently blamed the same on traffic Starcrosser turned out a BIG surprise and we chatted up for a while with the usual pleasantries and self introduction. Then it was my turn to stand in the queue to get some thing to much. The cashier was vying for the Guinness record for being the slowest cashier of the world and I bought a handful of stuff. By then Natasha came along with her lovely husband and we started off like a normal IM meet. Spent about an hour there and we went to Bangalore habba, along with two colleagues of natasha.

At the habba it was Shiv Kumar Sharma with his santoor performance, but we were more of a motley few and were busy continuing out meetup discussions. Then was a fashion show which was quite passable and we continued our discussions and had one (me two) round of chicken rolls. Talks ranged from romance, social work, Kerala (ofcourse), Indian communities in London, bollywood, china (what else to expect when I am there), whole lot of India and travel... And then the Pakistani pop group Strings started playing as we gave them our full attention (which later turned out as undeserved). Their performance (strictly according to my opinion) ranged from below average to just above average. They stopped by about 12.15.

It was open air auditorium and we all were stuck by the Bangalore winter night and the occasional cold breeze added to the chill factor.

And then started Ustaad Sayed Adil Hussain with his amazing sufi/geet/qwaali performance. Most of the songs were originally composed by his master Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. It was purely magical . Crowd was hypnotized by the amazing ensemble of his very talented group. After listening to rock/pop by nodding the head, we started really dancing to the tunes to sufi music. His performance went for about 2 hours and while he was in his last song we decided to move on.

All of us had a great time and we found out that we shared so many common interests and thoughts. Natasha and her husband were kind enough to pack all six of us into their car and drop us all one by one. I am home now at about 4 am and wanted to be the first one to update the thread.

Mike we owe you BIG Time for being able to bring people like us together and gift us unforgettable memories..
