you really thought you'd get American food out there? C'mon beach!

Reminds of the conversation I had with food stall vendor in 'Food world' next to Barton Centre on M.G road. He was selling hot dogs using pork & buns as is normally the case(as in rest of the world) and he told me, every other customer would come up to him to ask for a vegetarian hot dog. & he politely would fill the bun with tomato sauce and give it to a very satisfied customer who is convinced he's had an hot dog.

Sometimes I wonder whether english is u'stood the way it's supposed to be.

We had a fundooo time - as always, met up with Vinay in his room. Did some hacking around and the result was Vinay's last Post

Headed over to Bangalore Centra in Residency road, which offered Labenese Dhai puri and Mexican Pizza !!!! I settled for Mexican Italian meal and Vinay went for many things which are difficult to recall (phoneticaly, visually its all still in my eyes).

We chatted, chatted and chatted. No end to it or no limits to the topic. Finally decided to step out. Then again we walked the entire length of MG road and turned back through Church Street to reach Brigade where we bid adieu. I was still in my walking mood and headed till trinity circle before hailing a cab home.

As bij mentioned before, its been more like old friends meeting up after work. And this time dinner was on Vinay

Note - Hotel Monarch rocks !!! Bang on the brigade road with a great view of the world going by. Must insist on the road view rooms.

Sorry Natasha

I am kind of done with the long planned meetups, where we used to build the plan of the meet up about a few weeks in advance. The last three meetups in bangalore was planned on a few hours before the big moment.

Anyhow I am game for a planned meetup, with all who are in Bangalore plus any visitors coming to town.

So who all in Bangalore (residents) would like to meetup and when is a good time for you?

Bijapuri is still in town (I hope), hi bij are you game for a meetup ? We can help you out of the blues (talking helps you see - outside of the US elections thread ofcourse)

Beach ready for the limelight ? let me know, my offer for fish fry is still open.

Anyone passing by? digitaldrifter - are you still here?

And is there anybody else - out there in the cold, getting lonely, getting old - wont you join us ?

And another thought, anyone game for a Hampi trip ? I am planning it for a while. So we can infact think of an adventure trip for IM memebers tool.

Send me PM's for my mobile number - Yeah, I deleted it from the post as I was too shy to leave it open in the big bad world of the net.

Back online....
Nice meeting Sudheer..as always...and guess what..the hacking is still working (I've registered all the #s they have ). Nice walk on MG road...and keep that Rs. 5 Note with you.
Food was good at 'Bombay Blue', they have almost everything on the menu...Mexican Indian, Lebanese and Italian. food was good and staff was friendly. They also have a noodle bar right next to it which also serve alcohol.

So I leave Bangalore and back to Delhi. Well I've few hours in the evening before my flight at around 8PM.
So I'm open to another meetup today if others are fine with it.
Maybe we can meetup somewhere on the way to Airport..maybe TGIF (and its friday)..
I'll let Bangloreans to decide that.

Vinay, Sudheer and Natasha finally met up. The spoilsport me was more than an hour late, but by then Vinay and Natasha jelled up quite well.

I groped fish n chips and bit into most of the edible things in the table. Vinay was filling up on the last day at bangalore. Well this was a true IM meetup with we sharing travel stories, experiences and well again what we do..

We still did have discussions on my drinking habits, hacking, pirating, and generally the off topic stuff. Well natasha was surprised to know that IM threads can get nasty at times

Vinay had no plans of catching the flight and I had to be the time checker, finally left TGIF about 20 mins before the flight time in the mid of thick bangalore traffic (for those who dont know, read the other bangalore threads for a feel of traffic) after persuading the auto driver to drive till airport. Once Vinay left, myself and natasha waited for her hubby, who dropped me off at my office.

Finally got to hear from Vinay that he made it to the aircraft and he sounded exhausted - maybe he ran after the flight and jumped in (did u vinay?)

Thats the latest Bangalore IM meetup. Waiting for the next one - EAGERLY....

hey, Sudheer and Vinay,

had a really good time in TGIF last friday. Between a malyali and a bengali and fish and chips, you couldn't ask for much else. too bad, vinay, you had to be consoled by Dynabites! They are the best, though. But between your drinks and India winning the match, i am sure you had a good time too. Thanks for the treat. and todays reminder: I am your best friend!!

Went to Elements on Saturday. Hokaah lovers of the world unite! you have to go there once. tried Oxford fish. it was yuuuummmmm. elementry steak was a huge portion. Struggled to finish that. One foreigner was sitting opposite us and had nothing but soup all thru dinner. He found everything else spicy!! Paastas and steak spicy??? well...

Food lovers... keep writing!

Namaskar,
Now that I've recovered from all the running after the flight.
I almost mised the flight. Yes I reached there at 1940 and schedule dept. time of my flight was 1950. The Indian Airlines guys said NO, went over to the airport manager ans requested for one seat..She too said NO. I knew I'll have to pull-out something xtra. I said "You guys are doing a great job and helping Indian Airlines maintaining a good on-time every-time mission but I'm from Ministry of civil aviation and was part of President A.P.J Kalam's delegation and I got left out from the group. I need to get back to Delhi to attend next day's Ministry meeting". By the time I finished all this the time was 2000Hrs. I said no way I'm going to catch this flight and the next flight was next day and was thinking of calling up Sudheer to help me with a nite stay. But the lady (airport manager) got into action and almost beating 100 keys on her PC at a time..and finally announced something on her walkie-talkie and asked me to get my baggage scanned and take the bording card....WOW..I was happily shocked. Everything over in next 5 minutes and boarded the plane at 2010Hrs, yes the flight was delayed ...but finally managed to get a seat which was upgraded free to first/business class from an economy class...hehehe
Lesson: Will arrive atleast 45minutes before a domestic flight.

Oh the meetup: it was great, was cheering for India watching the match on a big screen while waiting for Natasha and Sudheer at TGIF. Few drinks down and India won, Natasha walked in asking the manager about a guy with a big suitcase..and she was directed to where I was seating.
Dynabits was good and fish & chips looked good too. We had a good session on sharing experiences from Barmer to Kerala to Spiti & leh. But the time flew past in a minute.
Thanks for making to for the meetup in such a short notice...next time we'll have Natasha for organising one..she is good with the eating joints in B'Lore.
Next time we'll suspend Sudheer in mid air for few drinks

Cheerio..I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Hi,

Someone referred me to this forum for general meet ups in Bangalore. I'm arriving in the first 2 weeks of December after spending 1 month in what feels like Pluto (aka a teeny tiny village near Kottoyam in Kerala). I'm a TEFL teacher from the UK looking for people in Bangalore to meet up with just for a laugh so please let me know if anyone is up for meeting up. It's my first time in Bangalore so it would be good to get some tips on places to see. Thanks.

Not sure about nalla kutti because most of my students are adult nurses!!! Could do with a few Malayalam swear words to shout at mad bus and rickshaw drivers though.....

Oh btw sorry for the late reply been travelling in Gujerat and Rajhastan.
