Mysore meet up report

Freemanx and Beach met at Mysore It was very nice. In fact it was not exactly a meet up. We had a full day agenda started at morning 8am and got over at 12 in the night. We driven to Somnathpur & Seerangapatana (now freemanx know what is the meaning when someone flash the headlamp when driving in day time ).

We made cardamom Chai at Beach’s house. And beach given a ‘crash course’ lecture on Hinduism at his prayer room.( And I think now freemanx can identify the photo of at least half a dozen Hindu Gods, close to a million may remain though.)

In the evening Freemanx gave a live demonstration of his tout handling techniques (it was impressive ) when we went to see the Palace illumination

OK..we had a nice dinner (fish masala, prawns pepper fry, roti, masala papad & RC beer) sponsored by freemax

We talked and talked and talked (a little bit more even on Indian standards). There were loads of funs.

How beach lost his chappal. How the traffic cops fined beach for the first time in his life. (may be we will explain it all later).

Right now I’m busy explaining my neighbors who was freemanx Some little kids over here wants to know why that ‘uncle’ is having a long hair

I think you should have asked martin to head to Thirupathi...

I am just back and now no one will recognise me. I just came back from thirupathi and actively looking for roles in Hindi movies and Shaolin movies.

Bangalore meetup - 3

The meetup # 3 was the most quickly planned and excuted. None of the week long postings on who is coming and who cannot.

Decided to meetup freemanx at 8.30 pm during a 5 pm phone call. Out of nowhere, hash appeared and was invited to join in and thanx to TT refugee thread, whokilled India Mike also came over. So sharp 8.30 all of us were at the food court and it was a nice meetup. All relaxed and kewl. As bij put it, like freinds meeting up after a long day at work. Then it was closing time and we said bye to Bij and went on for another chai - sweet lime corner and spent another hour there. Later, hash left and myself and marting went to my home where we spent hours in the roof looking at the airport - right next door. Martin was hugely surprised at how close to my house, was a passenger aircraft parked (almost like my parking lot). We spoke for hours and finally decided to call it a day.

When walking around we were an odd pair with me - a clean shaven head and Martin with long hair!

Next day martin went to ISKON temple and me to work. Evening we met up again and went for a dinner at the Manipal hospital canteen. Also Martin helped me to transport some chairs I bought from a freind. Then again hours of talking and called it a day at about 1 am. Next day, Martin was accompaning me to the electricity office to pay the bill and then to my landlords house to pay the one month overdue rent ! Our next stop was the telephone office but the queue there put me off and we head out of Bangalore for a long ride. Stopping at everyplace which offered a good view, we chased monkeys, eagles and just about everything. Much later, we decided to head back home and Martin decided to leave a little early as he would be imprisoned in a train for the next two days with no access to the net. So he wanted to surf for some time before boarding the train. I dropped Martin at the railway station and headed for some shopping before returning home.

Wanted to contact pooch, in between but as IM was shutdown had no choice

It was a great fun experience and we had some really GOOD discussions. Now looking forward to the next IM'r to visit town.

Thumbs up bangalore and mysore meetings

i had such a good time in bangalore and mysore with meeting sudheer, beach, hash and bij.
stayed at sudheers place for some days, drove around with beach and sudheer on their motorbikes and saw their houses from insight.
can open up a hindu school now once i`m back in germany due to beachs lessons.
learnt that there is one who can smoke more than me.
hash took me to a very upscale place in bangalore with great food and drinks and prices higher than in cologne
bought some shirts at kempfort, couldn`t resist.
met 3 very diferent indians and could not say which one is nicer than the other. all 3 are absolutely great guys.
and last but not least i met a legend, bij who seems to me to be more indian than american .
i`m looking forward to see you all again soon!
realy had a great time!!!

Hi
I will probably be in Bangalore or Mysore in a few days. Anyone else staying there at the moment?
Feeling a bit lost in Trichy, seems like I am the only tourist in india?! Really, have seen exactly one non-indian person since I am here

Sorry I am so late to reply. Have been to Trichy and Madurai, now I am up to Mysore. It's very nice here, quite a lot of travellers around.
Don't know how long I will stay though, perhaps I am leaving tomorrow already

greets tapir

Oops!! Yesterday night I was at Brigade road.

There is an American food festival going on at Nilgiris restaurant. (above the supermarket). May be because of the election season, the restaurant was fully decorated with US flags.

I've (mentally) voted for Kerry. But sitting under the American flag I had an ‘American mutton sandwich’ served with finger chips and veg pack in appreaciateion of Dubya's victory.
