Jay, check in your user settings (they're at the top right of the screen, next to your username there, if you're logged on) whether you're set to subscribe to (& receive email notification of updates to) threads you've posted to (if that's what you want. The result is a lot of nonsense mail, I personally don't care for it.)* In that screen, it's under "Edit Options," to the left.

You can also manually set it per thread where you would like to receive notification; this is under "Thread Tools," on top of any thread. Go "Subscribe" there, it then gives you the option to receive notifications or not. (You can also use this to unsubscribe from threads again.)

From your description, you should have set this to "on" anyway, but something may have interfered with it.

(Finally, it's possible your email or webmail program treats such notifications as spam, so you may need to check your spam inbox, and/or set it to allow messages from this site to get through.)

(And of course, this is always assuming you have a valid e-mail address in your personal (password & email) settings, for those notifications to be sent to...! Don't worry, that address isn't public, unless you make it so, which is really a different setting.)

* A more elegant solution is to set your options to subscribe to threads you've posted to, but not receive email notification. You can then check under >"Quick Links" (top right) >"Subscribed Threads" if there's any action on such threads, they'll come back to top (and get marked as unread) if there is. Again, you can manually subscribe to threads you haven't participated in as well, using the method already given.

Oh ps, in doing all of this, of course it won't affect past threads that you're not, or no longer, set to subscribe to and/or receive notification of. So you'd have to manually subscribe to such threads again.

I've got this thread configured as "instant email notification" and I understand that one has to revisit before receiving further updates, but I still don't trust the system.

So, I just revisit this page often if I'm expecting time-sensitive updates (i.e. I "camp the forum").

OK back to the meetups plan! Hey Sherry, I haven't been to any clubs here but I have this list someone posted in the Bangalore Forum: We have loads to choose from but I wouldn't know which one! Maybe the F bar?

Polo Club at MG Road
Athena at Airport Road
Tuscan Verve at Rest House Road
Geoffery’s at Airport Road
Down Town at Residency Road

Dancing Place:
F- Bar: 2, St. Marks Road (09886069660)

Hangout Place:
Casa De Sol: 3rd Floor, Devatha Plaza, Residency Road, , Richmond Town, (080 41510101‎)

Since the two places are not so far away from each other one can chillax, hit some quick shooters at Casa De Sol and walk down to F-Bar.
Casa De Sol also provides a good parking space to park a vehicle and move around on foot.
Also, the two places are safe and yet cool.

p.s: Nero club is same as f-bar, so dont get confused if u find a NERO written on top of a building and not F-bar.

Anyone else keen????????????

Shareen

Downtown if I may, the NASA Bar is a pretty pychedelic experience, that kind of lives up to its name (with its funky lighting & curvy interior, I immediately suffered vertigo/sea-sickness there. It's supposed to resemble a space ship I guess, and does a pretty good job of it I'd say.)

Pretty upbeat music too. No dancing I don't think (there might be on some nights); but probably fine for a drink or two to start or interspace the evening.

Don't know its precise location; should be close to MG & Brigade Road I guess. Oh, found it in LP now: 1A Church Street (close to there indeed), said here to open 11 AM-11 PM. I wonder if they didn't go on later when I visited earlier this year.

Perhaps not so conducive to a meeting; it's probably quite loud. An experience though, I must say. When I later mentioned it to a Kodava (a person from Coorg, and whom I spoke to in Coorg) who partly lived in town, he knew exactly what I was talking about -- besides having to laugh about it

Hi there! Thanks. As mentioned already I wanted to meet up at a quiet place first to meet and chat and then go dancing as I know if we find a good dance place there won't be much chatting! I also don't drink, which isn't a problem as I don't mind meeting at a pub either but the whole idea for this meetup on Saturday is to go dancing! Those who aren't too keen on the dancing can join us beforehand. This is quite simply..... meetup have coffee, drink and chat at a quiet location and THEN move on and go dancing. :-)

Yes, 'twas just a tip "Mocktails" seem to be all the rage at trendy spots these days btw, so I think non-drinkers are normally well-catered for, except perhaps at the most hardcore hole-in-the-wall joints.

Anyway -- enjoy, no matter where you go, folks! We'll be sure to follow what transpires.

Let me know what you guys decide. Def up for meeting with y'all. Dancing sounds fun but it all depends on this nasty cold.

So 22nd Saturday eh? Where? When?

Sending a pm with my gmail id as I don;t check this too often these days. I should!! need to find my way around Bangalore. Feeling a bit lost.

hi there i'll be visiting bangalore October 30th and wanted to make friends here before hand. I'm from Texas (of indian descent), 37, my first time in india. I've heard mixed reviews of the scene in bangalore. Looking forward to meeting new people, dancing, and having a good time.

I'm not coming; was too behind this week; but maybe next week. These places on residency road sound doable in the future.
