Update.
In order not to be a last minute spoil sport, there is a possiblity that I may have to travel outside of Holland that whole week. If that happens, I will miss this meetup but others should try to have one and post a report. On a side note, is anyone up for a few drinks this weekend? A small time meetup of sorts.

meeting
Since it became silent around the possible meeting on the 22 Januari , I wonder if anyone has the intention to be at the
Kingfisher bar, Ferdinand Bolstraat 24, Amsterdam. tomorrow 22-1 (Sunday) at 14.00 o'clock. I've to travel a while to get there, if things are not clear, I might not go there. Responses welcome. Joph. |

No, unfortunately the meeting didn't happen. I don't feel like scheduling it again, since I did last time, which didn't work out. If however, it might going on next time, and I don't have other issues I'm willing to come. In stead I went to the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam. They have an exhibition on Rituals in Hinduism. Set up nicely. Some nice movies too, like on burial-ceremonies. By the way for India-lovers living in Holland. You can buy the DVD movie called: "Hanuman", at the White-book shops for only 2,50 euro. It is all taken inside the Hampi area. Very nice shots from the Hanuman temple itself. The storey looks first like a not very interesting romantic novel, but later they nicely involve the hanunam roll into it. There is some old theme in it about steeling old properties and selling them for a lot of money. The wellknown black market in aticarities. Greetings Joph. |

Machadinha:
5th March is good. Het IJ even better. I'm 'hooked' to their Zattes. If the exhibition in Tropenmuseum is still on, we may spend like 3 minutes there as well. Joph and others, if you're ... intrested please join us. |

I forgot to mention a time. They open at 15:00. Since the place quickly fills up it's probably best to show up then. First comers might try to reserve a table (the ones in the back, to the right not the left of the entrance might be most suitable) but I wouldn't bet on our chances owing to the place's popularity. Incidentally, it turns out Fridays they do a free tour of the accompanying brewery at 16:00 which could be fun, but then I take it Sundays are better for some of us. Cheerio & till then --> if Indo is travelling around and I happen to be broke the whole thing might still fall through, but let's set our sights on this. Any combination of stroll along the IJ river/ferry ride across it or back to the East/dinner at Punjabi eatery remain open as complimentary goodies. |

My prospects for this Sunday don't look too sunny but a beer or two should be manageable. So -- be there or be a jellybean. Or something. |

Mac:
I was about to ask for a rain check myself ... If the trip I told you in PM materializes, I'll then post my more possible dates. I'll say sometime in mid July or early August look good to me so far. Cheers. |

Mac: Where in the world have you disappeared?? I guess your tied up with somethang.
Anyhow, not suggesting a meetup but just a note: A festival or sort of festival will see Indian movies being played in a cinema near Liedsplien in the first weekend of June. I am intrested in Salam Namaste, anyone else interested can join in. PS: Also tell me how and where to get the tickets in Amsterdam, my Dutch language skills are limited. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd June, Firday @ 2015 - Bunty and Babli A comic caper with Bollywood masala served spicy and tangy. Leave your rationale in the parking lot and you drive back home smiling 3rd June, Saturday @ 2015 - Zinda An experimental movie in terms of cinematography. Zinda, which means alive in hindi, is the story of how a simple day, like any other, changes the life of the man forever 4th June, Sunday @ 1300 - Salaam Namaste (BBC Review) Love and marriage are two vital ingredients in Bollywood films, and it's rare for one not to lead to the other. Kudos therefore to writer/director Siddharth Raj Anand for taking a more contemporary look at love and relationships in Salaam Namaste, a romantic comedy in which an Indian chef (Saif Ali Khan) and radio jockey (Preity Zinta) prefer to share a bed than get wed. Littered with laughs and one- liners, this is one entertainer that dares to defy convention. 5th June, Monday @ 1200 - Lagaan Undoubtedly the best of the lot. Was nominated for Oscars. But will have to work on that day .. If you want to watch just one movie in the festival and have time on monday, I would recommend this movie |

Hello everyone!
I don't think i ever posted something on Indiamike, but now and then i read some posts on this site. I read about IndiaMike meetups in Amsterdam, and I would like to join you! The idea of seeing Salaam Namaste sounds good, but unfortunately i can't come that day. I will check this thread now and then to see if another date will be scheduled. If anyone wants to know more about me, send me a pm! Regards, Anjani |
