Woman looking for woman for first trip in India

My name is Chiara, I'm from Ravenna (Italy)and I'm looking for you!
I think I'll leave on the first days of November .
Although I'm on my own, I feel this is the time to go... for me.
But... sincerly I'd rather there's someone want to come with me.
Some people say that a girl by herself could meet dangerous situation, but I don't want to believe it.

India has been my dream since I was 20 and now I'm ready.

Do we go?

Hi Chiara
Where in India are you planning to go? I'll be in India alone from mid-November to around mid-March (with a side trip to Pakistan at some point). Maybe we can hook up somewhere along the way? I'm starting in Trivandrum, heading up to Goa, then Mumbai, then Delhi, Himachal, Amritsar and on to Pakistan.

I'm from Scotland (but my dad is Italian!) :-)

I read some of your threads and I don’t have a fixed itinerary neither.
The only solution is to continue our contact by mail. Probably I'll get in Delhi and then north, Rajastan ....
But... I haven’t understood: have you ever been in India?

I haven’t sold my house ... ‘cause I don’t have it, but I’m about to resign my office.
It’s a very difficult decision here, ‘cause most of the people around me aren’t able to find out a job, so they tell me I’m crazy!
But I feel in a pen (is this the place where animals stay and can’t go out?): I look outside, I’d love to be there, but I’m getting afraid if I think to leave my pen... Now I’m defeating my scare ... and maybe also my reason.... I’m wondering it..
Dear .. you said “I’m terrified .... and getting cold feet about having taken this huge step!”
I have to think to words I would have said in italian ... but the meaning is the same: I feel like you (...is correct saying like this?). But maybe you got a knock on your head stronger than mine. (!!!)

About phone from India to Italy: I don’t know yet the cheaper solution:
- my cellular with an indian card?
- using phone center?
- other?
I’d rather leave my cellular at home... How can I do?

Chiara - You can send me a PM (private message) and we can exchange email addresses. I totally know how you feel. All my friends & family think I'm crazy too, but I just feel like this is something I need to do. I too feel like I'm in a pen! Your English is very good and makes perfect sense!! If you're struggling though, I do also speak a bit of Italian!

Yes, I've been to India before - but only for 3 weeks. It was on a tour and with a friend, so this time will be very different. This time I'm travelling and not just going on holiday! I loved India though - that's why I'm so keen to go back! Last time I travelled to Delhi, Rajasthan, Agra, Jaipur & Varanasi. It was fantastic!

About the mobile phone - Making international calls from within India is cheap and easy. There are phone booths all over the place. I'd like the security of having my mobile with me (so family can send SMS) - but I'll probably keep my UK SIM card to receive messages and use an Indian one to send them. Using my UK card to make calls home will cost a fortune. If you're happy to be without your cell phone, then leave it behind. You wont find any problem making contact with home from India! :-) There are also lots of internet cafes and they're cheap too.

Options 1 is get international roaming on your mobile phone which you bring from italy
2 Gat a pre paid card in india orange,Airtel, reliance

Remember

"Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it."

"Even if all you can do is crawl accross the floor, it's better than just sitting there doing nothing."

Even if everyone says you don't stand a chance, don't give up on your dreams.

Cheers

Ciao Chiara,

Io saro' in India verso la seconda meta' di Novembre per un giro del Rajasthan e anch'io partiro' da sola. Se pensi che date/luoghi possano coincidere con il tuo itinerario ci si potrebbe incontrare da qualche parte.
Comunque ti auguro buon viaggio!

hi Sun&Moon

I am also looking for a female partner to travel starting in Delhi. I will be arriving on 31st October for 2 weeks, trying to cram as much itinerary possible. Just booked flights to india last week out of whim. I have made two nights booking in delhi and book everything else then. Considering that deepavali and the pushkar fair is around the corner, I think to book anything will be a challenge but should be fun. Have you got a travelling partner yet?
thanks

Wonderful ladies!!!

It warms my heart to see you ladies all making arrangments to meet up together in India - and perhaps travel a few miles together! Some may think I've been being a fuddy duddy about ladies asking for travel partners recently - but there have been some very sad stories about guys meeting lone women travellers in India - SO, you have made this fuddy duddy very happy that you girls are hooking up together and I sincerely hope that you all have wonderful, happy and safe trips in India - and don't forget, if you're down TN way, you can always call in to see us there - you would be welcome! I'll be back in Bangalore, God willing, from 2nd Nov - and probably arriving in Krishnagiri a few days after that - once we've seen old friends! I'll PM/email any of you ladies with a cell-phone number if you let me know if you'll be down our way......getting another India SIM card next Wednesday. God bless all here

I'll be in Delhi travelling in India for the first time from 20 November then 4 weeks travelling solo through Rajasthan. I've been dreaming about this for years so am very excited and so far not scared at all... Am I foolish not to be? I'm an easy going, well travelled, older Australian woman and I'd love to have some female company to share some of this journey - I'd love to hear from any of you women that might be around the same area and time - hoping to catch up with one or many of you - cheers
