Travelling alone in north india nov-dec 2009

Hello everyone,

I will be arriving in Delhi on 8th November 2009.
I am planning to stay for 1-2 days in Delhi and then travel around Agra, Varanasi, Udaipur and Jaipur for 2 weeks.
Afterwards I am planning to stay for another 4 weeks in Rishikesh to practice Yoga and meditation.
Am 27 years old, female with a lot of travel experience (not so much of India though)which loves to share nice experiences.
If anyones feels like catching up or travelling part of it together, I would be more than happy...

hi i am vikram from dehradun . rishikesh is 20km from my place so when you will com,e to rishikesh i would be happy to meet you and also i can provide some nice information about the rishikesh and place where you can stay for yoga..andf meditation.... hope you will enjoy your trip.. take care.........

Welcome to Indiamike. You will have a great time in India for sure.

I would love to join you on your trip to Rishikesh as I have a long weekend off. If it is ok with you we can plan it once you have all your dates fixed.

All the places you have chosen are very good and you will have a good time. If you need any tips about any places except Varanasi and Udaipur please feel free to ask.

I suggest you to visit Chandigarh,Shimla,Kullu,Manali ,These are beautiful places of North U shouldnt miss.
I am from Chandigarh and wud be happy to guide you if you come this side.I would be happy to join you as i am also planning a trip to the hills during this time
I too have keen interests in Yoga and meditation.

I m planning on a trip to Gangotri and places around in the second week of December.There are many scenic spots in the mountains and to get there we have to trek from Gangotri.I guess a weeks time would be sufficient to cover all places. Would you be interested?

oh, thanks for that, but are there any other places near by where i can go, i m going on a trekking trip from Dalhouise , (19dec - 24 dec)organized by youth hostel association of India. So wanted to check other places as well before or after the trek. I am not particularly interested in visiting cities, want to see the Himalayan mountains, can you suggest me any place which is cheap?

I am planning to start from Hyderabad in the first week of December. I' ll stay for one day in Agra and then leave for Delhi. From Delhi i will be going to Dalhouise on 18dec where I am attending a 6 day trekking expedition organized by the youth hostel of India. After the trek i want to try out further trekking routes, I am particularly interested in exploring places in the mountains and i guess a nice trek is the only way to do it. But I don't know whether these routes are accessible from 24th Dec and moreover I am traveling alone to places in the mountains for the first time, so I am little scared about the prospect but i want to do it somehow, I need guidance regarding these, primarily i want to know whether the trekking routes like milam glacier trek, valley of flowers trek etc, would be open from Dec 24th and if they are accessible i need guidance as to how i need to organize my trip, please help
